The suit is too tight. Pinches just a little too uncomfortably around your neck, like phantom gnarly fingers constricting your windpipe. You swallow a lump. It’s only nerves. A bead of sweat zigzags down the side of your face, distracting you from all the readings in your helmet’s HUD. Your recently modified vertebral implants feel like a caterpillar crawling down your back. Skittering. Biting. Chewing. You’ve not needed the augments since the Amadiohas were decommissioned.

Nosa - Uncharted
The chief priests chanted hymns over the bonfire’s raging flames that first night in Izuland. Their voices were unnaturally high-pitched, a shrill tone I feared would tear the cords of their voice boxes out of their throats. They threw herbs into the fire, discoloring the flames into a cold green conflagration that screeched in the whispers of forest spirits and stank of rotting soil. I noticed him because he sat by the fire all through that evening. Alone.

The ecosystem on this server is a mountain range. Most of the mountains are absent though, especially the ones that would normally be visible as one stares towards the horizon. Most of the horizon has vanished too, replaced by a spider-webbed fissure of… nothing. There is only one thing responsible for such decay. Even from this distance, I can see the viral codes at the edges of the fissured server. Malignant code in glowing strings of zero and one. The Red.
