Abstract The blue carbon capacity of mangroves is an important contributor to climate change mitigation. Southeast Asia holds one-third of the world’s mangroves, although these ecosystems have previously experienced substantial loss and degradation, with large areas now available for restoration.
ABSTRACT Canopy height is an important indicator of mangrove forest structure, ecological functioning, and restoration development; however, field measurements are spatially limited by cost, accessibility, and survey effort. This study mapped mangrove canopy height in Trat Province, Thailand, by integrating ICESat-2 photon-counting LiDAR with Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR), Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery (MSI), and field measurements.
