1 Introduction The ternary nickel–vanadium oxides have been extensively studied for their catalytic and electrochemical applications [1-5]. Ali et al. [1] had investigated Ni2V2O7 polycrystalline thin films for lithium (Li) insertion properties in standard laboratory Li batteries and reported improved cyclic behaviour as compared with bulk powders. Zhaorigetu et al. [2] had investigated the catalytic properties of Ni–V–O mixed oxides for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane to propene.
