SECONDARY PREVENTION IN STEMI PATIENTS: INSIGHTS FROM A REGIONAL VIRTUAL STEMI CLINIC (SPARC STUDY)
ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients are often managed in a “Hub and Spoke” model with early repatriation from the Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)-capable centres to their referring hospital. This fragmented care, along with trends towards earlier discharge post-STEMI, results in suboptimal management of these high-risk patients post-discharge.
IN-HOSPITAL CONGESTION PROFILES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH MORTALITY IN PATIENTS WITH CARDIOGENIC SHOCK
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is characterized by low cardiac output and tissue hypoperfusion attributable to either impaired left ventricular (LV), right ventricular (RV), or biventricular function. While mortality in CS remains high, pulmonary artery catheterization (PAC) can improve outcomes through optimization of volume status, use of inotropes and vasopressors, and use of advanced heart failure therapies including orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT) and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
Cardiovascular events among recipients of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-A systematic review and meta-analysis - Bone Marrow Transplantation
Abstract Cardiovascular diseases are an emerging cause of mortality and morbidity in survivors of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT); however, the incidence of cardiovascular events (CVEs) in this population is not well described. This systematic review summarizes the evidence on the incidence of CVEs in HSCT recipients. Medline and Embase were searched from inception to December 2020.
M027 MELOXICAM INDUCED FIXED DRUG ERUPTION
Fixed drug eruption (FDE) presents as local purple, blue and hyperpigmented macules on same locations upon each exposure to the provoking drug. It is crucial to obtain a thorough history and exam to identify the provoking drug. FDE can also present as a more severe form with bullous lesions resembling Stevens Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. M165 AN ALARMING PRESENTATION OF CHRONIC SPONTANEOUS URTICARIA
Introduction Chronic urticaria is classically described as recurrent, pruritic, erythematous, areas of central swelling that resolve within 24 hours. However, lesions often present with various morphologies which can make the diagnosis difficult to pinpoint. This case highlights an atypical presentation of chronic idiopathic urticaria with angioedema that required an extensive workup including skin biopsy to exclude other potential diagnoses.
M313 WHEAT-DEPENDENT EXERCISE-INDUCED ANAPHYLAXIS: A CASE REPORT
Introduction Food-dependent, exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIAn) is an infrequent disorder that occurs within a few hours following food consumption. Case Description A 42-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of recurrent, intermittent urticaria that occurs during strenuous exercise within 30-60 minutes following food consumption.
M037 ANAPHYLAXIS FOLLOWING TRIAMCINOLONE INJECTION FOR TRIGGER FINGER
Expand allCollapse all Introduction Management of inflammation associated with allergic conditions often involves administration of corticosteroids. This case of anaphylaxis occurred after triamcinolone and lidocaine injections and outlines the process of identifying triamcinolone as the inciting allergen. Case Description A 75 year old male with allergic rhinitis received triamcinolone and lidocaine injections for trigger finger.

The prevalence of hypereosinophilic syndromes (HES) in the United States is about 0.3 to 6.3 cases per 100,000 person per year. Clinical presentation varies from nonspecific constitutional symptoms to life-threatening cardiac disease. PDGFRA-associated HES cardiac disease usually occur exclusively in males, here we present a case of a female patient.
