Covalent Organic Framework with Electrodeposited Copper Nanoparticles- a Desirable Catalyst for Ullmann Coupling Reaction Chandana Chandran, Himan Dev Singh, Liya S Leo, Pragalbh Shekhar, Deepak Rase, Debanjan Chakraborty, Vinod Prabhakaran and Vaidhyanathan Ramanathan Abstract Covalent Organic Framework is a porous covalently-linked polymeric assembly built from molecular lego blocks, the monomers.
Development of solid sorbents with optimal CO capture characteristics is key to improving the efficiency of PSA based CO separations. Of the several potential sorbents, metal organic frameworks (MOFs) hold a key niche. This is owing to their modular tunable structures and manipulatable adsorption sites. Yet, developing a MOF that meets the multiple demands of a gas-separation sorbent remains a challenge. Particularly, tuning them to adsorb CO over the more polar water is quite difficult.
Permanant porosity has been realized in a hydrogen bonded framework formed by a single tripodal tricarboxylic acid molecule. The presence of three phenyl rings linked to a flexible sp3 nitrogen centre renders a near-propeller shape to the molecule generating an unusual ‘non-planar’ 3-D framework formed by highly directional planar –COOH…HOOC- hydrogen bonds, propagating in all three directions. The material shows exceptional hydrolytic, acid and thermal stability and has surface area of 1025 m /g.
