Valerie McMurray is the visionary founder and CEO of Soleil Toujours LLC, a premier luxury sun and skincare brand established in 2015. Under her leadership, the brand has rejuvenated the concept of sunscreen, blending top-quality, safe sun care with advanced anti-aging technology, all presented in environmentally friendly packaging. She is dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of clean, reef-safe sunscreen, advocating for its daily use to ensure fun, safe sun exposure.
Valerie remarks, "From the outset, the two tenets of the business have been to be good to our bodies and be good to our environment."
The idea for Soleil Toujours struck McMurray during her third pregnancy as she grew concerned about the chemicals in the sunscreens she was using, including parabens and oxybenzone. This concern led her to investigate the harmful substances commonly found in commercial sunscreens and their potential risks during breastfeeding. Determined to find a better solution, she was propelled to create a safer, natural alternative.
Despite discovering a significant need for high-quality, natural sunscreens and moisturizers, Valerie seized the opportunity to innovate. This led to the creation of Soleil Toujours, born out of a need she felt and saw in the market.
With a background in luxury resort wear through her previous venture, MerSoleil, Valerie found a natural progression into the skincare industry. Her 18-year investment banking and financial services career also provided a strong foundation for navigating the complexities of starting and growing a business.
McMurray's commitment to sustainability and safety in skincare led her to focus on developing mineral-based sunscreens. After years of development and collaboration with the proper laboratories and packaging providers, she introduced a range of products featuring safe, innovative formulas. These include the EcoSun Complex®, a unique blend of vitamin C ester, vitamin D, red algae, and bisabolol, which are critical to the brand's success.
