Medicinal plants used for snakebite and scorpion sting management in Sudan, North Africa: a systematic review, quantitative ethnobotanical analysis, and pharmacological synthesis
Abstract Introduction: Snakebite envenoming (SBE) and scorpion sting envenoming (SSE) are significant yet under-recognized public health challenges in many low- and middle-income countries, including Sudan. Limited access to antivenom, the only specific treatment, has driven widespread reliance on traditional plant-based remedies, although this knowledge remains fragmented.

The number of conspecific alarm substance donors notably influences the behavioural responses of zebrafish subjected to a traumatic stress procedure - Fish Physiology and Biochemistry
Abstract Zebrafish (Danio rerio) represents a complementary pre-clinical model in stress and anxiety research. Conspecific alarm substance (CAS), an alarm pheromone secreted by injured fish, acts as a warning signal and modulates fear responses. Given their schooling nature and that injury precedes CAS release, varying fresh CAS concentrations extracted from different numbers of CAS-donating zebrafish may uniquely influence trauma-related behaviours.

Unmasking atypical bone marrow TB
A 35-year-old South African woman, who was newly diagnosed with HIV after having started antiretroviral treatment 3 weeks prior, presented to a peripheral hospital with pancytopenia (hemoglobin, 5.2 g/dL; mean corpuscular volume, 111.1 fL; white blood cell count, 1730/μL; absolute neutrophil count, 1360/μL; and platelet count, 50,000/μL). On clinical examination at the time, she was noted to have no lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly, or splenomegaly, and her chest radiograph was clear.

2. Results and Discussion 2.1. Oil Immiscibility Studies All experiments were carried out in triplicate, and the results are expressed in as mean ± SD (n = 3) values for the different oils tested. No external oil phase mixed with beeswax or linseed oil displayed clear separation. Further, no separation was detected between shea butter and any internal oil phase. Therefore, Transcutol®:PEG (9:1) was selected as the only suitable internal oil phase.
Perspectives on the Potentials of Phlorotannins in Enhancing Phytoremediation Performance
Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, Aug 2023 Phytoremediation is gaining momentum among bioremediation strategies for addressing high levels of metal(loid)s and organic pollutants in the environment, which threaten plants, wildlife, and human safety due to their cytotoxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effects.

Antiviral Lectins of the Plant Family Amaryllidaceae
Revista Brasileira de Farmacognosia, Jul 2023 Plants have long served as a first line of defence against viral-borne diseases. Their chemical constituents have also afforded a sound basis for antiviral drug discovery. The plant family Amaryllidaceae is distinguished for its isoquinoline alkaloids, some of which have proved to be interesting antiviral drug leads. Its lectin (or agglutinin) principles have likewise attracted considerable attention as potential antiviral drugs.

3. Results and Discussion 3.1. Morphological Characterization of the Pastes For the purpose of determining the morphology of the material, SEM microscopy was performed. Figure 1 illustrates the surface morphology of AuNPSnGr (Figure 1a), PIX/AuNPsnGr (Figure 1b), and PIXCoCl/AuNPsnGr (Figure 1c) pastes. Figure 1a shows the surface morphology of the paste, which consists of numerous layers of irregularly shaped flakes of varying sizes.

Re: AutoSave feature causing frustration
@adam deltinger Thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately, it does nothing to solve the real problem because at the end of the day, due to the way "auto-save" was implemented, it changes the meaning of "last modified". It used to be that "last modified" really told you when the last intentional change was made to the file. By design, the auto-save feature (which is very important in and of itself), renders the "last modified" field meaningless, or rather, it completely changed its meaning.
