How is social media changing news?

It's changed what we see, and how people react to it. Also, now we tend to only see the news we WANT to see; not good for reasoned debate.

Probably Facebook. Call me a traditionalist. I like what I like.

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I'm angry and full of good ideas.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't bother with a shit media degree. Start in a newsroom post-college, start young, be nice, be helpful, don't be a dick.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

My...my beat? I would say the most common misperception is that I actually have a 'beat'. I am not a policewoman.
