This African pompano was caught in Boca, Florida. We were about 300 feet deep with a nice bottom underneath us. It was midJune, and the bite was very slow that day. We were mainly trolling around right out front and weren’t having much success, so we started to bump-trolling some goggleeyes and blue runners. We were fishing all day and just about to give up. We said, “One more drift, and we go in.” All of a sudden, we got the bite.
