Gender-affirming hormonal therapy induces a gender-concordant fecal metagenome transition in transgender individuals - BMC Medicine
This study, involving transgender individuals undergoing gender-affirming hormonal therapy (GAHT), was meticulously designed to consider sex as a critical biological variable. Given the unique nature of the study population, which includes both trans women and trans men, the focus inherently involves exploring the impact of GAHT on individuals assigned female at birth and individuals assigned male at birth.
Past attachment experiences, the potential link of mentalization and the transmission of behavior to the child by mothers with mental health problems: cross-sectional analysis of a clinical sample (pdf) | Paperity
European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Sep 2023 Maternal capacity to mentalize (= reflective functioning, RF), secure attachment and emotionally available parenting has an impact on the child’s development.

Competing correlated states around the zero-field Wigner crystallization transition of electrons in two dimensions - Nature Materials
Abstract The competition between kinetic energy and Coulomb interactions in electronic systems leads to complex many-body ground states with competing orders. Here we present zinc oxide-based two-dimensional electron systems as a high-mobility system to study the low-temperature phases of strongly interacting electrons. An analysis of the electronic transport provides evidence for competing correlated metallic and insulating states with varying degrees of spin polarization.

Metrology in 2019
Klaus von Klitzing tells the story of the quantum Hall effect's impact on metrology. An unexpected discovery in the wee hours of 5 February 1980 marked the birth of the quantum Hall effect (QHE)1. The observation of very distinct plateaus in the Hall voltage of a 2D electron gas in a silicon-based field-effect transistor (pictured) initiated a new field of research with many different branches2.
