Article focus Intravenous (IV) tranexamic acid is routinely used in hip and knee arthroplasty. The optimum dose and route of administration is still debated. We have increased the dose used in our enhanced recovery (ER) protocol from 15 mg/kg to 30 mg/kg (maximum 2.5 g) as a single, IV dose. We report the clinical effect of this dosage change.
