Comparison of Surgical Versus Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Patients With Aortic Stenosis at Low-Intermediate Risk
BACKGROUND: To compare safety and efficacy of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in patients at low-intermediate risk, given the paucity of robust data. METHODS: We performed an aggregate data meta-analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 6,778 patients comparing TAVR with SAVR for aortic stenosis (AS) in low-intermediate risk patients (Society of Thoracic Surgeons risk-score ≤8%) using the random-effects model.
Predicting Left Main Coronary Artery Stenosis Without Imaging
Significant left main coronary artery disease (LMD) carries important therapeutic and prognostic implications given the large amount of myocardium at risk.
Outcomes of beta blocker use in cocaine-associated chest pain: a meta-analysis
Objectives Beta blockers (β-blockers) remain a standard therapy in the early treatment of acute coronary syndromes. However, β-blocker therapy in patients with cocaine-associated chest pain (CACP) continues to be an area of debate due to the potential risk of unopposed α-adrenergic stimulation and coronary vasospasm. Therefore, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of available studies to compare outcomes of β-blocker versus no β-blocker use among patients with CACP.
