I attended the Segal meeting in my role as Program Director at the BAND Foundation. Our work focuses on nature conservation and expanding access to epilepsy care in Africa. We were drawn to the meeting because of the Segal Family Foundation’s strong network of organizations and philanthropic partners across the continent. During the meeting, we hosted a session titled “Accessing Care in the Shadows,” focused on the barriers preventing people with epilepsy in Africa from receiving appropriate care.
