Assistance Available For 13 Texas Counties Impacted Hard By Weather Disasters
PASADENA, Texas (KTRK) — Starting Monday, people who were hit the hardest by the Jan. 24 tornadoes can apply for government loans to help with their recovery. This came after the U.S. Small Business Administration issued a disaster declaration on Friday, making assistance available for 13 counties in Texas. These loans are similar to the ones offered during the COVID-19 pandemic to small businesses, offering loose eligibility criteria, generous term lengths, and caps on interest rates.

DTN Closing Grain: Wheat Markets Plunge on Bearish Stats Canada Report; Beans Slightly Firmer
Stats Canada came out with end of July all-wheat stocks of 5.7 mmt; the trade was looking for only 4.8 mmt. That sent wheat futures sharply lower. Corn and soybeans continued to grind lower early Wednesday, but recovered, after being pressured by the beneficial warm and dry forecast and the ongoing Gulf export struggles. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: September corn closed up 2 1/2 cents per bushel and December corn was down 1/2 cent.
Ag, Biofuels Oppose EPA on 2018 SREs
LINCOLN, Neb. (DTN) — Agriculture and biofuels groups on Tuesday asked a federal court to set deadlines for EPA to review 31 small-refinery exemptions to the Renewable Fuel Standard for 2018, and to vacate those exemptions while the review is ongoing. The 31 exemptions that had been granted by EPA earlier involve roughly 1.3 billion gallons of renewable fuel.

Minnesota: Fall 2021 soil testing considerations for the 2022 growing season
Soil sampling On top of limiting the yield potential of crops, dry soils also have other important impacts which need to be considered when making nutrient management decisions for future years. Here are few tips to keep in mind when taking soil samples and interpreting soil test results this fall to help make decisions for the 2022 growing season. Pay attention to soil sampling depth – With dry soils, soil sampling depth can be an issue.
Indiana: Comparisons of Net Returns for Crop Share Leases and a Fixed Cash Rent Lease

This article updates net return projections for 2021, and compares the net returns of two crop share leasing arrangements with a fixed cash rent leasing arrangement.
DTN Early Word Livestock Comments: Market Direction May Be Slow to Develop
Photo: Kansas State University Pressure on the cattle complex has been brutal. The anticipation of strength after the Cattle on Feed report showed continued tightening supplies was quickly and dramatically discounted as demand came into question. Now that Labor Day is over, the market can focus on actual demand and perceived demand.

Kansas: Cattle Chat - Preventing injury with good flooring
It is important that cattle have good traction under their feet when in a barn or working through a chute system. Well-designed cattle handling facilities take into account the terrain the cattle will be walking on MANHATTAN, Kan. — When walking across a wet or icy sidewalk, people sometimes can take a tumble. Just like humans, without solid ground to walk on, cattle can also get injured.

DTN Closing Grain: Grain and Soy Markets Crumble on Good Weather, Poor Exports and Bearish Outsides
Pollinating corn field. Photo: Dan Quinn, Purdue University Despite some progress being made in getting Gulf export terminals up and running, grain and soybean futures plunged on mostly warm and dry finishing weather ahead. Also pressuring the markets was the sharply higher U.S. dollar and lower equities and crude oil. The corn and soy basis are sliding ahead of harvest.
DTN Morning Cotton Commentary: Cotton Starts Week Slowly
Cotton futures are quite mellow Tuesday morning as we await the big WASDE report on Friday. Supposedly in that data USDA will address its production and acre differences with FSA. That report will be released at 11 a.m. CDT Friday. Prior to that release, however, traders will see new condition ratings today, while weekly exports-sales have been pushed back to Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. CDT. The CFTC issued its Commitments of Traders data on Friday.
Rice Market Update: Hurricane Ida Damages NOLA Vessel Loading Facilities
Plenty of rice lodged when the remnants of Hurricane Harvey moved through Arkansas. Photo: Jarred Hardke, U. of Arkansas. On the ground, the only thing more pressing than harvest is Hurricane Ida and the aftermath. The destruction in urban populations is catastrophic, while damage to rural regions, and specifically the rice complex, is still being ascertained. We do know that some rice in Louisiana has been damaged and/or destroyed, but full effects remain unknown.
NOAA Drought Outlook Monthly - September
Drought continued to plague almost the entire western half of the contiguous United States during August, and while conditions gradually worsened across the northern tier, upper Midwest, central Plains, and parts of the eastern Corn Belt, widespread monsoonal convection brought some improvements to long term drought conditions across the Four Corners states. Little drought remains across the East, though some stubborn areas persisted across the central Appalachians and far northern New England.

Cleveland on Cotton: Seat at the Dollar Table Depends on Mother Nature
After testing near term lows, the cotton market rallied at week’s end, settling above 94 cents, basis December futures. The attempt to climb to the magic one-dollar level is somewhat stimmed by the potential for the U.S. crop to climb to over 18 million bales. The current estimate is 17.3 million bales, but late as the crop is, Mother Nature could still give us an unusually late fall; thus, allowing for the plant’s very young fruit to develop harvestable bolls.
Midsouth Cotton: Cotton Is Out of Our Hands, Hurricane Ida Causes Close Call
Here is this week’s issue of AgFax Midsouth Cotton, sponsored by the Midsouth Cotton Team of AMVAC. OVERVIEW Most of the cotton is past the point of scouting for insects, a welcomed time by growers and consultants. Most expect a large harvest in October Harvesttime is upon us for corn, grain sorghum and soybeans. Growers are pleased with yields so far. Hurricane Ida caused a scare in Louisiana, which encouraged harvest, but the damages were isolated to southern Louisiana and Mississippi.

Florida Peanuts: Most Fields Look 30-60 Days to Peak Maturity
Mature peanut field. Photo: Kevin Hudson, Mississippi State University The days keep ticking by as we progress through this 2021 crop year. As you can see in the aGDD Tracker below, most March and early April planted fields have reached or passed optimum maturity at this point. I recognize that planting dates that early are not standard for the Panhandle, and certainly not throughout Georgia and Alabama.
