Introduction Species can exhibit spatial variation in environmental sensitivity, with the same species showing different levels of sensitivity across locations due to local adaptation, phenotypic plasticity, and differences in environmental conditions (Enriquez-Urzelai et al. 2020, Rixen et al. 2022). Understanding how and why species' sensitivity to climate change varies informs where and how conservation resources should be allocated under ongoing climate change (Pacifici et al. 2015).
