What was your first job as a journalist?
I wrote articles for a now-defunct online entertainment publication for pennies! But I loved doing it so I regret nothing.
How is social media changing news?
In both good and bad ways - it's great we can get info so fast, but it tends to make people worry so much more.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
I'm an entertainment journalist and I love figuring out my own angles on interesting aspects of all things pop culture.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email, email, email!
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Asana is my lifeline. It lets me jot down ideas as soon as I have one. Grammarly is another go-to, for sure.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter. I love the fast-paced way it moves. Plus, it forces people to be creative with a limited amount of characters, which can be tough.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've written stories since I could hold a pen. Combine that passion with my love for all things movie & TV and that's my dream job.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My collection of 'Stranger Things' articles. The show brings me so much joy and I love being able to break down theories about it for others.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Keep at it, and be prepared to be very creative in a pinch.
When's the best time to pitch you?
In the mid-morning to late afternoon.
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite drink is bourbon and coke. I'm from Kentucky and in my opinion, bourbon's the only way to go.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
If I'm not at my computer, I'm watching the next TV series or movie I'm about to cover.
