Putin sends Trump a gift – and will hope for something in return
Think Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and the mass prisoner swap in 2024. Or how basketball star Britney Griner was traded for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout in 2022. But this time it was different. One-way traffic. After more than four years behind bars, former US marine Robert Gilman was freed by Russia, and no one went the other way. That’s very unusual. Moscow seldom gives anything up for free. So why has Vladimir Putin agreed to it?
After Hours
Overview Sydney gets one like this every few months. Groove-driven house music. On 9 May, After Hours takes over Plaza Hotel Basement with Caleb Jackson. MicroHertz. Fabric. DC-10. His sound sits at the intersection of psychedelic house and deep funk - infectious groove with real weight behind it. The kind of set you're still talking about weeks later.
From the Fields: Crops get a timely drink
The heat moved in on us and hasn’t let up. Up until now we lucked out and haven’t seen many 90-plus degree days, let alone multiple days in a row. Seems like things really sped up and started to either die or change from growth mode to dry down mode rather quickly. I think some of the beans on the hot sand and gravel bars got some top-end yield taken off of them. For the most part, the corn is still in good shape, but we are seeing signs of stress and plants dying before they are actually mature.
From the Fields: Do the math
By Will Swope September 05, 2021 at 2:30 pm CDT The rain hasn’t totally shut off for us, but it’s starting to get dry. I know some of you have been on the drier side of things this season, so I’m not going to complain. We are starting to show stress on the gravel and sand ground and the clay knobs are really dying faster than one would expect. There is a lot of irrigation around our area and up until last week you didn’t see anything run hardly all year.
From the Fields: Eyes on finish line
We didn’t do much “farming” this week. My in-laws have always taken their family to stay in a cabin down in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They used to take the girls down when they were all little along with a couple who are more like family than friends. It’s always fun to go up in the mountains and stay in a cabin with everyone and enjoy the views that the Smoky Mountains give you.
From the Fields: Really good sign
This week has been all over the board. I’ve kept busy signing fields, scouting crops, kicking off seed meetings and mowing roadsides. I started the week with our area sales rep from LG Seeds. We put up field signs and looked at some corn and soybean acres. We went to a grower in Johnson County to scout for disease pressure across his corn and soybeans acres. We ended up in Shelby County scouting some silage and some commercial corn.
From the Fields: Wet start to season
By Will Swope August 09, 2021 at 6:50 pm CDT I’ll start by trying to catch you up to date on crops and conditions in our area. Early April was great as we experienced ideal ground conditions and favorable weather and everyone’s attitudes were in a good place. We planted about 200 acres of corn and soybeans in that early April window.
Fantastic Markets Ready for New Start-Ups and Innovation
We are living in an age where new start-ups are cropping up daily. The advances in tech and the widespread connectivity that has been brought about by the advent of the internet of things mean we are becoming more industrious, and venturing into the business world, using various different types of engineering. Many struggle to make it past the first twelve months, but with the right advice and equipment, there are countless companies which will make a great success.
