Will Wain-Williams’s Biography
Will Wain-Williams is a British journalist, editor and documentary filmmaker based in Shanghai, where he has lived for much of the past two decades. His reporting focuses on China’s economy, business, society, culture and international relations, with a particular interest in how political and economic change is experienced on the ground.
Fluent in Chinese, he has reported and travelled extensively across China, from major commercial centres to remote border and minority regions. His work has appeared in outlets including the South China Morning Post, The Diplomat, TRT World, Al Arabiya, CGTN and China Daily, alongside extensive editorial work covering China’s economy and business.
He is also the creator of Monkey Steals Peach, an independent documentary project exploring Chinese martial arts, history and traditional culture, whose films and videos have reached millions of viewers worldwide.
Will holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society (FRAS).
