Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Volunteering at local football clubs.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I haven't yet - I don't think the profession is going to turn back to them unfortunately!

How is social media changing news?

Journalism is more transparent than ever. Those responsible for news are open to scrutiny through social media, with several implications.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Being a journalist means being responsible and accountable. The truth is imperative, and journalistic methods must be open to scrutiny.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Microsoft Word, Weebly, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter. The best for encouraging debate and engagement.

Who do you wish followed you?

Jonathan Liew or Jonathan Wilson. Both are superb in their work and massive inspirations.

Why did you become a journalist?

On its fundamental level, journalism means to be there as an event takes place. That honour is huge, and so are the memories it can bring.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I've been privileged to write about many topics, from personal experience and secondary research. Writing for my village club may be one.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

As I count myself as one, I would say that it is important to get experience wherever possible! Push yourself outside of your comfort zone.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Probably taking notes at the sideline of a pitch!

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Glory Magazine, I'd recommend it to any avid sports fan.
