Playing all these games is such a waste of time and energy for both employer and employee. God know what the financial costs of the tools are, let alone the cost of disengaged employees. Don't get me wrong, I know this is a complex topic, the whole work from home/hybrid/remote thing. It's not easy. Although I chose many, many years ago not to work for a corporate, I did for four years in my early career. I understand the complexity is multiplied in line with the headcount.

There is a very German phrase called “Realpolitik” which means political realism. It fundamentally describes the fact that political decisions - and all other decisions in life for that matter - always need to be seen in the context of the real world and facts rather than being based on ideals and wishful thinking only, whether we like it or not. The same holds for our journey into a sustainable future. However, sometimes “Realpolitik" facts still knock me off my socks and scare me.

The price for a COE is determined by demand and especially since COVID the prices have spiked – to now $106.000. If you include the purchase price and taxes as well, owning and driving a Hybrid Toyota Camry will cost you $183.000 compared to $29.000 in the US.
