11 Powerful Images At The Women’s March 2020
Hundreds of thousands of women gathered on Saturday to mark the fourth annual Women’s March. Women took to the streets of New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and more to bring attention to and shed light on reproductive rights, climate change and immigration – among the many other issues that women face daily.
Convict and Remove
At the start of beast of prey Harvey Weinstein's long-awaited trial in New York, he was charged with additional crimes against women in L.A., thus rendering him a coast-to-coast offender. News also surfaced his "research team" had issued a 57-page treatise on "the proper narrative" to address the case; it featured detailed, scummy smears of his now roughly 100 accusers. Hey Harvey, the narrative is clear: You're a serial rapist, predator and assaulter, and your time's up.
I Did the Math, and Don’t See a Coalition
JNS.org – In the midst of all the promises of “coalitions” after the razor-close Israeli elections, who’s doing the actual math? On one side, you have a right-wing bloc that maxes out at 56 seats, and on the other, a center-left bloc that maxes out at 53 seats, both of them agonizingly short of the magic number of 61.
A Call for Jewish Unity
A Torah scroll. Photo: RabbiSacks.org. This week, I published onto my website the unedited memoirs of the late Rabbi Mordechai Elefant, undoubtedly one of the 20th century’s most colorful rabbinic educators. Rabbi Elefant’s various institutions in Israel and the United States profoundly influenced thousands of students, as well as supporters across the Jewish world.
The Plight of the LGBT Community in the Palestinian Authority and Muslim Countries
A Jewish gay pride flag. Photo: Twitter. The Palestinian Authority (PA)’s violent treatment of the gay community under its rule offers a gloomy reminder of this community’s difficult situation in most Muslim countries. On August 18, the PA barred the Al Qaws (Rainbow) organization, which combines several LGBT groups, from holding an event in the Nablus area. Palestinian policemen not only forcibly prevented the gathering but issued a harsh and threatening warning to members of the gay community.

Lisa Murkowski: FBI Probe Would 'Clear up' Questions About Brett Kavanaugh's Past | Breitbart
The remark was made in response to a question by CNN senior congressional correspondent Manu Raju, who asked the lawmaker if the FBI should probe Kavanaugh’s past, following allegations of sexual misconduct brought forth after the Supreme Court nominee emerged unscathed from a series of contentious confirmation hearings. “It would sure clear up all the questions, wouldn’t it?” Murkowski reportedly told Raju.
Cotton: Some Statements by Dems About Kavanaugh Resemble 'Stalinist Show Trials'
On Tuesday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) argued that some of the statements made by Democratic senators about Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh “resemble the kind of Stalinist show trials you saw in the Soviet Union,” where making an accusation is enough. Cotton said, “[T]he Democrats and the media have spent a lot of the last couple of years talking about undermining basic democratic norms. They should look in the mirror.
Thune: Democrats Attempting '11th Hour Ambush' on Kavanaugh
Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said Senate Democrats are attempting an “11th-hour ambush” on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Thune said, “This was an 11th-hour ambushed by the Democrats on the committee. Think about what he has been through. He started off answering over 30 hours of questions, in an open session from Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary committee. They had closed sessions where they asked him questions.
Washington Post Admits Beto O'Rourke Falsely Claimed He Did Not Leave Scene of DWI
“I did not try to leave the scene of the accident,” O’Rourke said, “though driving drunk, which I did, is a terrible mistake for which there is no excuse or justification or defense, and I will not try to provide one.” Unfortunately for the would-be senator, the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News obtained police reports that directly contradict his story.
Asia Argento Breaks Down in Tears: ‘People Say I Murdered Anthony Bourdain’ (Video)
The 61-year-old, best-known for his award-winning food travelogue Parts Unknown, killed himself in a French hotel room in June just days after Argento was seen strolling hand-in-hand with a male journalist in Rome. “I understand that the world needs to find a reason. I would like to find a reason too. I don’t have it. Maybe I would feel some solace in thinking there was something that happened,” she said.
Republican Ad: Andrew Gillum’s Ties to Extremist Group Dream Defenders Prove He’s ‘Just Too Radical’
The ad, released by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), documents Gillum’s close relationship with Dream Defenders, a radical organization that demands an end to capitalism, rants against Independence Day and officially endorses the extremist Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel.
'I Have No Way of Knowing' if Ford Will Testify Thursday
Asked whether she expects Ford to testify before the Senate Judicial Committee Thursday if outside counsel is slated to ask the accuser questions, Feinstein replied “I have no way of knowing” if she will show up. In a letter sent to Chairman Grassley Monday evening, Ford’s attorneys criticized the panel’s hiring of an “experienced sex crimes prosecutor” to partake in the testimony, suggesting the professor may renege on the agreement to appear.
Woods Back on Top, Bidding to End Ryder Cup Struggles
“My overall Ryder Cup record, not having won as a player since 1999 is something that hopefully we can change. “We haven’t won as a US squad here in 25 years on foreign soil, so hopefully that will change this week, as well.” The 42-year-old, at Le Golf National for the first time since in 1994 as an amateur, unsurprisingly looked in an upbeat mood playing alongside possible partner Bryson DeChambeau, old adversary Phil Mickelson and Patrick Reed in practice on Tuesday.
Man Killed and Car Stolen After Stopping to Help Fellow Driver
When Clearwater, Florida, native Andoni saw a driver who had lost control of their vehicle near downtown St. Petersburg on I-275, he immediately stopped to help. Andoni’s own vehicle camera recorded the good deed. According to a press release obtained by People, “shortly after stopping, the motorist was able to depart the scene and Andoni walked back to his vehicle.” It was as he was returning to his vehicle that he was struck and killed by 30-year-old Dana Thomas Byrd.
Texas Mother Pleads Guilty to Leaving Babies in Hot SUV for 10 Hours

Hawkins may face up to 40 years in prison, according to Hill Country Breaking News. In 2017, Hawkins was accused of leaving her daughters, one-year-old Brynn Hawkins and two-year-old Addyson Overgard-Eddy, in her SUV on the night of June 6. Reportedly, the infants remained in the vehicle from 9 p.m. to noon the next day.
Canada Not Making 'Essential' Trade Concessions, According to Lighthizer
The U.S. has been holding negotiations with Canada after reaching a trade agreement with Mexico in August. The Trump administration and the Mexican government want the agreement signed before the Mexican president-elect, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, takes office in December. Under U.S. trade law, the administration is required to submit to Congress a finalized, written agreement 60 days before it intends to sign it. As a result, the agreement would have to be finalized before October.
MTV Launches Voter Registration Drive Inspired By Women’s March, March for Our Lives
The MTV campaign, called “+1 the Vote,” urges viewers to encourage their friends to get registered to vote and participate in this Fall’s political process. “Plus ones help make the moments that shape your life, so why not invite them to shape your future?” the commercial asks. The ad dropped one day before National Voter Registration Day. However, the MTV campaign doesn’t appear to be a non-political voter registration drive.
Billy Eichner, Mandy Moore Star in Funny Or Die Get Out the Vote Ad
The video is titled “Non-Voters Anonymous” and features the stars gathering as if they are a support group for non-voters who are trying to get over their past non-voting habits to become registered voters. Like a meeting of recovering alcoholics, the non-voters gather to speak to the bad reasons that kept them from voting in the past. While not uproarious, this politically neutral video will bring a few smiles and does, indeed, offer the important message that voting is important.
Colorado Children's Hospital Dumps Gender from Wristbands
The hospital said the male and female designations were removed to support kids who claim to be transgender and to support their “unique gender identity.” “We are seeing more and more patients who have diverse gender identities,” Children’s Hospital Colorado spokesperson Dr. Natalie Nokoff told WLTX-TV 19. “I think that’s true of programs all across the United States.” Nokoff has made a career of treating patients who claim to be transgender.
OPEC 'Ripping Off the Rest of the World'
The U.S. president commended Poland and warned Germany about energy dependence on Russia that “can leave a nation vulnerable to extortion and intimidation.” He added that the U.S. has become the largest energy producer in the world and that OPEC nations will be forced to contribute more to their own military protection. “In America, we believe very strongly in energy security for ourselves and for our allies,” Trump told the room.
Pro-Life Leaders: HHS Ending Single Contract for ‘Fresh’ Aborted Baby Tissue ‘Completely Inadequate’
A statement from HHS Monday said a recent review of the contract between ABR and the FDA, to provide human fetal tissue to develop testing protocols, left HHS insufficiently “assured that the contract included the appropriate protections applicable to fetal tissue research or met all other procurement requirements.” Pro-life leaders, however, say HHS’s termination of the ABR contract is only a “small first step” and “completely inadequate” to achieve a goal of severing American taxpayers’...
Judge Declares Bill Cosby a 'Sexually Violent Predator'
The classification means that Cosby must undergo monthly counseling for the rest of his life and report quarterly to authorities. His name will appear on a sex-offender registry sent to neighbors, schools and victims. Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill made the decision as he weighed the punishment for Cosby for violating Temple University women’s basketball administrator Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia estate in 2004.
Bill Cosby Sentenced to 3 to 10 Years in Prison in Sex Assault Case
The punishment all but completed the dizzying, late-in-life fall for the comedian, former TV star and breaker of racial barriers. “It is time for justice. Mr. Cosby, this has all circled back to you. The time has come,” Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill said. He quoted from victim Andrea Constand’s own statement to the court, in which she said Cosby took her “beautiful, young spirit and crushed it.” Cosby declined the opportunity to address the court before the sentence came down.
Right Wing Comics Should Tell Muslim Jokes
Like a lot of things left-wing comedians say in the course of their tediously right-on routines, this isn’t funny because it’s not true. It’s theoretically possible, I suppose, that in the left-wing bubble which O’Briaiain and 99 percent of his fellow comics inhabit, everyone is so ill-informed that no one has heard of the Charlie Hebdo massacre — or of what happened when the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten published some cartoons of Mohammed.
Pope Francis: Young People ‘Outraged’ Over Church Scandals
“Young people are outraged over sexual and financial scandals for which they see no clear condemnation,” the pope said in an ecumenical meeting with young people. Francis said further that many young people ask nothing of the Church because it seems irrelevant in their lives. “It is terrible when a church, a community behaves in such a way that young people think, ‘These people will not tell me anything useful for my life,’” he said.
Vulnerable Senate Democrats Remain Open to Supporting Brett Kavanaugh
Several Senate Democrats up for re-election this year have remained open to supporting Judge Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court despite the sexual assault allegations brought against the president’s nominee. Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) face three of the most competitive races this cycle and have continued to watch the accusations against Kavanaugh unfold before they give a decision regarding their support.
Women's March Chicago Celebrates Equal Rights Amendment Ratification by Illinois House of Representatives
The journey of this Amendment has been a long and arduous one, dating back to its inception after the victory of the 1920's women's suffrage movement and later when it was sent to the states for ratification by Congress in 1972. Now finally, 46 years later, our state government has formally recognized that the constitutional rights of women are not only valid, but deserve protection from being abridged or denied.

Scarborough Debuts New Single Inspired By Women’s March, Twitter Predictably Mocks It to Death
Besides this weekend being the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump taking office and the beginning of a federal shutdown, it also represents a year since The Resistance took off. A day after Trump’s inauguration, millions of women in dozens of cities around the country took to the streets to march. With women once again planning marches this weekend to commemorate the groundbreaking and historic event, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough wanted to make sure American women knew he stood behind them.
Writer Embarrassed By Women's March
In response to the March 9 article ”Women’s March Demands Equality,”those women make me embarrassed to be an American woman. Their anger and bias is demoralizing, and I am not one of them. As to references to white males: I’m not a male-basher. I have two wonderful sons who are white males. My little grandsons are white males. My ancestors are white males. White males are not our enemies.White males founded this country. Millions of them died for that cause, and in the ensuing Revolutionary War.

PHOTOS: Thousands walk in Women's March to state Capitol in downtown Little Rock
Hundreds of Arkansans flood Capitol Avenue for the Women's March for Arkansas. Thousands of Arkansans marched to the state Capitol Saturday, a day after the presidential inauguration, to rally for women’s rights. The demonstration, called the Women’s March for Arkansas, was part of a national and international movement, said organizer Gwendolynn Combs. In total, 663 marches are scheduled to take place in 600 countries, she told the crowd. “Here’s a secret: We were the first,” Combs said.
Identity politics and the future of the Democratic Party
The question of how much to embrace -- or not -- identity politics will be key to the future of the Democratic party. Women on social media are planning a march on Washington in January, but there are accusations of cultural insensitivity and demands for more inclusivity. A Tribe Called Quest is out with a new album called “We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service.” It comes 18 years after the group’s last release.
