Wyatt Mould’s Biography

Wyatt Mould studied to become a journeyman lineman at Northwest Lineman College (NLC) in Meridian, Idaho. Founded in 1993, NLC is a private vocational technical school focused on careers in the power delivery industry.

After completing his studies, he joined the IBEW Mountain States Line Constructors Joint Apprenticeship and Training (MSLCAT) Program. This program provides structured electrical construction learning through classroom instruction and on-the-job training. During his apprenticeship, he gained hands-on experience with live-line work, system troubleshooting, and high-voltage maintenance while strengthening his knowledge of safety standards and electrical theory.

Wyatt worked on power lines across Montana, Colorado, Utah, and Texas for three years. His duties took him wherever his crews were needed to repair outages or expand electrical systems. Working through different terrains and climates helped him develop adaptability and teamwork—essential qualities for a lineman working in demanding conditions.

Training at Northwest Lineman College

At NLC, he completed an intensive 15-week pre-apprentice program that combined theory and practical learning. The coursework covered power delivery systems, line construction, and safety practices. He trained in electrical concepts such as circuits, voltage, and current, along with practical skills like pole climbing, conductor handling, splicing, and proper tool use.

Safety instruction was a significant part of his education. He learned risk mitigation procedures for high-voltage work, fall protection, lock-out/tag-out systems, insulated tool use, and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work as a Lineworker

As a lineman, Wyatt constructed, maintained, and repaired the transmission and distribution systems that delivered power to communities and businesses. His work included overhead lines, underground cables, transformers, and transmission towers.

He performed tasks such as stringing conductors, inspecting and testing electrical equipment, splicing wires, and replacing damaged poles or components. Many jobs require responding quickly to outages and performing repairs in severe weather or challenging locations.

Lineworker Skills

Throughout his training and field experience, Wyatt developed strong technical judgment, diagnostic ability, and precision in physical work. He learned to handle specialized tools and equipment for working at heights and around high-voltage systems. His work also required endurance, focus, and effective collaboration with teammates under varied and often demanding conditions.

Work at Borden Excavating

Wyatt has worked for over three years as an excavator at Borden Excavating, a construction company based in St. Calimesa, California. His work involves wet utilities, including installing water mains and servicing customer meter boxes.

While at Borden, he also completed a two-year construction laborer apprenticeship through AGC in Riverside, California. AGC operates the state’s first and largest open-shop apprenticeship program and is committed to training skilled construction professionals. During this apprenticeship, he gained experience in trenching, grading, pipe installation, and heavy equipment operation—skills that complement his lineman background.

He plans to return to the electrical trade and complete his apprenticeship with the NJTAC IBEW program.

Volunteer Work

He dedicates time to Carol’s Kitchen in Riverside, California, a community organization that provides nutritious meals to the homeless four days a week. He has contributed over 100 volunteer hours there, helping support those in need.

Personal Life

A Man of Faith

Faith plays a central role in his life. Christian beliefs influence his values, decisions, and how he leads and serves others.

Family is also very important to him, and he enjoys spending as much time as possible with them.

Hobbies

In his free time, he enjoys staying active through golf, motorcycle riding, and camping. He also appreciates the focus and skill involved in pool and skateboarding and maintains his fitness through regular workouts.

Wyatt Mould continues to build on his professional experience and personal values, combining hard work, integrity, and faith in every area of his life.
