On 22 April 2026, the European Commission published its AccelerateEU – Energy Union: Affordable and Secure Energy through Accelerated Action Communication (AccelerateEU). It sets out the Commission’s long-awaited crisis response to the conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
