ORIGINAL RESEARCH article Volume 13 - 2025 | https://doi.org/10.3389/fbioe.2025.1697468 1 Introduction Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive disease characterized by elevated pressure in the pulmonary artery, resulting in right heart failure and eventually death (Ivy et al., 2013). The median survival time of untreated PAH patients is only 2.8 years (D'Alonzo et al., 1991).
Introduction Congenital heart disease (CHD), the most common type of birth-related structural and/or functional anomaly in the heart, affects nearly 1% of live births per year (1, 2). It has also been one of the leading causes of infant mortality, especially among children aged under 5 years in China (1). Although the rate of survival has been improved after the surgical intervention, the rate of long-term morbidity remains high.
