Exogenous Melatonin Alleviates Atrazine-Induced Glucose Metabolism Disorders in Mice Liver via Suppressing Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress
Triazine herbicides are widely used for their ability to remove weeds in crops, such as sorghum and corn. Atrazine (ATZ), a selective systemic herbicide, is one of the most common triazine herbicides, with annual global applications accounting for billions of tons. (1,2) ATZ was banned in the European Union in 2004. However, many countries have not restricted its use.

Pesticide residues in agriculture are serious environmental contaminants that bring harm to environmental safety, food safety, and organism health. (1) Atrazine (ATZ) is a triazine herbicide that is highly persistent in the soil. (2) ATZ is widely used for the cultivation of various crops because of its excellent herbicidal effect on broadleaf weeds. It is only after being chemically hydrolyzed that ATZ can be degraded by soil microorganisms.
