Nature often constructs complex molecules from simple precursors through cascade processes in which different catalytic events operate in a relay or cooperative manner [1, 2]. Inspired by this principle, multicatalytic strategies have been developed to connect several elementary steps in one operation [3-9]. Unlike single-catalyst systems, which are usually limited to one dominant activation mode, relay/cooperative catalysis enables different catalysts to operate in a coordinated sequence.
