Abstract Biogas slurry from intensive pig farms contains high concentrations of ammonium nitrogen (AN), total phosphorus (TP), and chemical oxygen demand (COD). However, its direct application in hydroponics is constrained by ammonium toxicity, nutrient imbalance, and the lack of rapid load-monitoring tools. In this study, a hydroponic system with I. aquatica Forssk. (Ipomoea aquatica) was established to simultaneously purify biogas slurry and increase vegetable production.
