These Taylor Swift Lyrics Are Perfect for the High Holidays
My soundtrack for this year — and especially this summer — has been none other than Taylor Alison Swift. I came to the Swiftie universe late; I was too old to jump on the bandwagon when she first arrived, but once my kids caught the bug, I went all in. In car ride after car ride, including to the Eras tour and back, we’ve belted her bridges and discussed her lyrics.
King Lear | Almeida Theatre
By William Shakespeare, Directed by Yaël Farber Event details Nothing will come of nothing. We all must face the moment of truth that we won’t live forever. Lear, father and king of unquestioned power, must divide his realm between his three daughters. The first two quickly declare the love he is desperate to hear, yet his favourite Cordelia shuns the performative circus. “Nothing” she answers, when asked to speak. And towards that nothing Lear’s world begins to slide.

Stageworthy: The Best of Stage 2019
Saw a little less shows than last year, and added a few concerts that I've included in the final tally. So 2019 I saw 153 different shows but 173 times (basically I did 20 repeats this year alone). (The full list of all the shows I saw is at the bottom of the post). This year I saw shows in Toronto and Stratford, London, NYC, Seattle, Los Angeles, and on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean. Any shows (same production version) I had seen in previous years are ineligible for this year's list.

Mies Julie
“Mies Julie” is a scorchingly sexy, shockingly violent adaptation of August Strindberg’s “Miss Julie,” transported from 1888 Sweden to 2012 South Africa. Incidents that may or may not happen offstage in 1888 happen onstage in 2012. In “Mies Julie” at Victory Gardens Theater, playwright Yaël Farber translates the relationship between a privileged young woman and a servant from Midsummers Eve in Sweden to the Karoo, South Africa, on Freedom Day in 2012, the day commemorating the end of apartheid.
