Yaffa Fredrick’s Biography

Yaffa Fredrick is a multimedia producer in New York City. She specializes in long form content, with an emphasis on hard news and social activism stories. Since beginning her professional career, Yaffa has developed custom broadcast and digital content for PBS, MTV, and most recently, World Policy Journal.

Since completing her undergraduate studies in political science and filmmaking at Wellesley College, Yaffa has been searching for stories that both inform her target audience and inspire them to take action on issues ranging from domestic violence to climate change to sex trafficking.

Yaffa’s interest in international affairs began during her year abroad at Oxford University. While in England, Yaffa explored topics such as the politics of African economies and the complexities of Middle Eastern affairs. Her academic experience inspired her to embark on a senior thesis, The AIDS Challenge: Examining Health Policy Choice in Africa, for which she earned honors in her major and the prestigious Jerome F. Schiff Fellowship. Her desire to pursue global stories also propelled her to participate in the Madeleine Korbel Albright Institute of Global Affairs, where she had the privilege of learning under the former Secretary of State and her many political disciples.

In addition to her passion for global affairs, Yaffa also has a special interest in legislative affairs and the legal system, both of which were informed by her time working at Georgetown University’s Law Center and the New York County Office of the District Attorney. During that time, she was exposed to the legislative and judicial processes at work, and has since searched for stories to build around these critical civic processes.
