Cyberattack aftermath – can you survive the financial fallout?
Yaron Assabi | CEO | Founder | Digital Solutions Group (DSG) | mail me | A cyberattack does not end when malicious activity has been contained. For the affected business, that is usually when the most expensive phase begins. When an attacker breaches a system, the problem quickly extends beyond IT. Systems may go offline while staff try to keep the business running. Customers demand answers, and the business may need to meet regulatory obligations.

From robot-staffed restaurants to human-less hotel check-ins, it’s clear that the future is here and it’s automated. But as I walked the MWC floors surrounded by innovation, I couldn’t help but ask: Is Africa ready for this shift, or are we still holding back? Globally, the race toward AI and automation is fuelled by the need for efficiency and cost reduction.

Lessons in customer centricity
“A frictionless experience for your customers, employees and suppliers is non-negotiable when looking to succeed in competitive markets. The reason for this is simple: when you remove friction from a process or a system, you give back the resource no one can generate more of, time. In the future, the most powerful brands will be customer-centric. Successful companies will know their customer and will be the customer’s advocates.” In the past, online shopping was primarily about convenience.
Big data shapes the world
Yaron Assabi | CEO | Founder | Digital Solutions Group | mail me | The modern world is flush with technology jargon, and new ones keep entering our lexicon: digital transformation, the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), and Generative Artificial Intelligence are just a few examples. And as often happens with overused words and phrases, we become very comfortable with these to the point that they soon become a part of the background noise.

Platform-based ecosystems - the new plane of competition
Yaron Assabi | CEO | Founder | Digital Solutions Group | mail me | We are amid a major digital revolution dominating every sector of the economy. Enterprises now focus on enabling consumers, employees, and ecosystem partners. Companies no longer just serve customers; they collaborate with them. They no longer just compete with rivals; they partner with them. They’re no longer limited by industry boundaries; they ignore them. In short: platform-based ecosystems are the new plane of competition.
Overcoming the password conundrum - securely
Yaron Assabi | CEO | Founder | Digital Solutions Group | mail me | Passwords remain a risk, despite being one of the most common security measures around. The drive towards a ‘passwordless’ environment begins with a solution that can create, automate, protect and manage your existing passwords. It’s time to turn employees into ‘human firewalls’
Yaron Assabi | CEO | Founder | Digital Solutions Group | mail me | Cybersecurity education, through the use of anti-phishing training programs, is vital in a world where humans remain the weakest link in the cybersecurity chain. Cybersecurity is a term on every businessperson’s mind, as the legal, financial and reputational implications of a breach are massive.
e-Commerce - South Africa’s new frontier
Yaron Assabi | CEO and Founder | digitalmall.com | mail me | The rise of e-commerce in the country over the past year may have been driven by the pandemic, but it was long overdue. It is worth noting that South Africa was arguably too slow in initially adopting e-commerce, chiefly because it appeared focused on the niche upper end of the market. Thus, many retailers did not view it as a necessity.

Black Friday has undoubtedly become a global frenzy - and understandably so because the concept which started as a great American retail success, was quickly adopted across the world for its benefit to both consumers and retailers. Yaron Assabi, CEO and founder of DSG and digitalmall.com. This year we saw many macro-outlets promising to start their deals earlier on online platforms. The same goes for the festive season.
