Why private mix links make you a bolder DJ
Every DJ has a folder of mixes nobody’s heard. The genre detour you weren’t sure about, the first attempt at a new technique, the recording from last weekend that might be your best work. They sit there because putting something on your public profile can feel a little daunting. Play counts, comments, followers watching. But creativity needs places to happen before it’s ready for an audience; private mix links give you that space. They let you share a mix with people you trust, before you go public.
Centreforce: How a rave pirate mastered Mixcloud Pro
From pirate radio to 46,000 Mixcloud followers, Centreforce uses live streaming, Host Tagging, subscriptions and tips to build community. Many creators pick one or two Mixcloud Pro features and stick with them. 883 Centreforce took a different approach. Over the past six years, the station has woven nearly every tool in the Pro toolkit into the way it runs.
How to schedule your mixes and build a loyal audience
Think of the radio shows you’ve followed for years. You knew exactly when they were on. Sunday nights, Thursday mornings, the first Friday of the month. Part of the pleasure was the ritual: knowing it was coming, clearing the time, tuning in alongside everyone else who’d done the same. That ritual is how a show turns listeners into a community, and you can build it for your own mixes. On Mixcloud, scheduled uploads are part of the customization tools in Mixcloud Pro.
How Stereo Underground turned listeners into subscribers
You may think that you need tens of thousands of followers before you can earn from your music content. Creator Subscriptions, available with a Mixcloud Pro subscription, let your most devoted listeners support you directly each month. Stereo Underground is one of the clearest examples of the feature in action. From the BBC to independence Presented by Richard Latto, Stereo Underground is a weekly two-hour Indie and Alternative show.
Why unlimited uploads can boost your podcast on Mixcloud
Moving your podcast to Mixcloud doesn’t mean starting again. With an RSS feed and a Mixcloud Pro subscription, you can bring every episode you’ve ever made and pick up exactly where you left off. If you’ve spent years building a podcast or radio show, your archive is your proof of work. It’s every guest, mix and week you showed up. With Mixcloud’s RSS import, you don’t have to, and with Mixcloud Pro’s unlimited uploads, there’s no cap on how much of your back catalogue comes with you.
How Hosts on Point Blank Radio doubled their followers
A radio station is only as strong as the people behind the mic. Listeners don’t just tune in for a frequency; they come back for a voice, a selection, a personality they trust. The stations that thrive are the ones that let their DJs build audiences of their own. That’s exactly what Host Tagging, available with a Mixcloud Pro subscription, is designed to do. Just ask Point Blank Radio.
What are unlimited uploads and why do they matter?
Every mix you make is part of your story as a DJ, broadcaster or producer, a story you want to take your listeners through. On Mixcloud, unlimited uploads are part of Mixcloud Pro, enabling you to publish as many shows and original tracks as you like. Below, we look at why unlimited uploads make such a difference, from building an archive to keeping a weekly radio show going for years. What do unlimited uploads mean on Mixcloud?
HQ audio: Why sound quality matters for your mixes
You spent hours digging for the records. Spent longer getting the blends right, riding the EQs, and nailing that drop at the 40-minute mark. Giving your mix the best sound possible is exactly why HQ audio matters. Short for high-quality audio, it means streaming your mix at a higher bitrate so that everything sounds incredible in your audience’s ears. On Mixcloud, HQ audio is one of the core benefits of Mixcloud Pro; creators upload at a bitrate around three times higher than the standard.
Taste Crush: lunasroom shows love to HOTBOXXX
We all have that one musical muse we keep going back to. A tastemaker whose mood is yours. Who, through a mix, radio show or even a simple track, draws you close and helps build out your world. Maybe it’s their personality, their knowledge or something you can’t quite put your finger on. Either way, it’s impactful and we want to pay that forward. We’re inviting listeners to share the curators they love and what makes them so special. Think of this as a love letter to someone’s taste.
These are the genres blowing up on Mixcloud right now
We take a deep dive into some of the sounds that have made waves on the platform recently. Have you heard of genres like 3-Step, Reparto or Drift Phonk? Sounds that can be found on the dancefloor as much as online spaces, they represent the distilling of established genres into more niche, but equally potent movements of their own. They’re also gaining quite the reputation on Mixcloud.

5 Wire mixes for the adventurous listener
The Wire is one of the UK's premier music magazines and has spent over four decades chasing sound to its furthest, strangest corners. Since launching in London in 1982, The Wire has built a reputation few publications can match. Championing avant Rock, free improvisation, Noise, new Jazz, modern composition and every unclassifiable thing in between, it has always worn its independence as a badge of honour and, across hundreds of issues, it has interrogated as much as it has celebrated.
How Daft Punk, Eminem and Tokyo shaped M豆ME
Ask M豆ME what got him into music and he’ll point to an unlikely pairing: Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time’ and Eminem’s ‘Stan,’ heard within days of each other as a teenager and tugging him between Hip-Hop and the funkier stuff ever since. That genre-agnostic instinct now runs through ‘NATTŌ,’ his monthly show named after fermented soybeans, in reference to the “fermented edges” of his musical taste. Half joke, half mission statement.

Why hasn’t the UK made a new genre in a decade?
There’s a chapter of Croydon in the early 2000s where a producer could cut a white label on a Tuesday, hand it to a DJ on Wednesday, hear it played out at FWD>> on Thursday, watch exactly how the room reacted, and remake the track by the weekend. Done a few hundred times, across a legion of up and coming beatmakers, and you don’t have a pile of tunes anymore; you have Dubstep.
How an award-winning Dublin show became Straight Eights
The story of Straight Eights doesn’t actually start as Straight Eights at all. Straight out of Dublin, Ireland, Founders Emmet Hand and Bootsy first crossed paths on Dublin City FM in the mid-2000s, going on to launch ‘The Jazz Pit’ on Mixcloud in 2012. A show that won a Mixcloud Online Radio Award and landed them a DJ slot at the Nisville Jazz Festival in front of thousands.

Behind the stream: How Back2Back DJ Battle goes live
Live streaming has quietly become one of the most powerful tools a DJ has. As well as a way to broadcast a set, it’s how a bedroom DJ in London can get discovered by a listener in São Paulo, or how a scene builds a network of collaborators it would never have met otherwise. Few have leaned into that as fully as Back2Back DJ Battle.

From the creative depth and imagination coming out of Mexico City right now, Radio Nopal has risen to give it all a home. What began in 2018 has grown into a community hub in Mexico City’s San Rafael neighbourhood, complete with a studio, gallery space, residencies and archives. A product of its surroundings, Nopal is guided by the idea of being bold, brave and being allowed to make mistakes.

Your mixes need tracklists: Here’s what they’re doing for you
You’ve spent hours crate-digging, testing transitions and getting the energy of your mix just right. But once it’s uploaded, it’s important to consider whether you’re giving your listeners everything they need to make the most of it. Tracklists on Mixcloud matter more than you might think, both for your fans and for the artists whose music you’re championing.

Lemara Lindsay-Prince is building a village at We Out Here
Every summer, hundreds of thousands of people descend on Dorset for We Out Here, drawn by a lineup that spans Jazz, dance music, and everything in between. But away from the main stages sits the Talks Tent, containing 27 sessions across four days built not just on music, but on conversation, curiosity and community. Programming it is Lemara Lindsay-Prince, founder of Studio Lemara.
Nico Adomako: “DJing is a conversation between cultures”
There’s a version of Nico Adomako’s life where none of this happens. Where his joke to a friend about putting his name on a DJ line-up for a fashion week event lands differently. Where the friend doesn’t take it seriously and the flyer never goes out. “I never clarified it was a joke,” Nico jovially reminisces as he dials in from his Berlin home.
G33 looks back on her first ever mix
Every DJ remembers their first mix. That blend of nerves and excitement before uploading online, not knowing who’s listening or what happens next. It’s a small act with an outsized effect: the moment a bedroom hobby becomes a public passion, and maybe even a career. G33 knows this feeling well. Based in South London and one fourth of the potent DJ collective Girls Don’t Sync, she zones in on club music and executes her set with ultimate finesse.
Turning up the volume: The rise of LOUD WOMEN
How LOUD WOMEN grew from a London gig into festivals across seven countries, 600 volunteers, and two weekly radio shows. When Cassie Fox couldn’t get a straight answer from promoters about why so few women were on their line-ups, she stopped asking and started booking her own shows instead.

10 tracks that define HE.SHE.THEY.
Six years deep and one hundred releases strong, HE.SHE.THEY. has built itself into one of underground club culture’s most vital platforms — a label and event series rooted in the Black, queer and underground communities that shaped dance music in the first place. From turbo-powered House to experimental Techno, the London label has captured the essence of underground club culture’s changing fabric in genres, styles and people.
Latin EDM with Happy Colors
There is no clean origin story for Latin EDM. It didn’t emerge from a single city, scene, or genre; it erupted from the collision of multiple diasporas. Each carrying their own musical inheritance and finding that the rhythms refused to stay separate. Dominicans in Rotterdam. Puerto Ricans in New York. Mexican Americans running between Corpus Christi and Mexico City.

This radio station is built on the unexpected
There’s something fitting about a station named after one of the UK’s first community radio outlets choosing to spend its airtime on artists who treat radio with respect. RTM.FM — music, culture and debate, per its own mission, and a direct nod to the original RTM that launched in 1978 — has built a schedule where sound art, mixtape-making and unclassifiable club music sit comfortably alongside each other.

Crate digging through Mexico City's record shops
Mexico City’s record shops are scattered across the city waiting to be found, and nobody knows the map better than Phill Barrera of Salas Roma. From the legendary shelves of Retroactivo to the dance music gems at Surco Records and the hidden treasures waiting to be discovered at Discos Balderas, Phill explores the city’s rich record culture one stop at a time.
The accidental 10-year radio show
Ten years ago, Wasa Bibi aka Danica Olders (right) and Oren Ratowsky (left) met on a whim at a Montreal pop night through a mutual friend, and neither could have guessed their “blind date” style introduction would turn into a decade-long radio show and friendship.

Stop undercharging for your DJ sets
What should you charge for a DJ set? Setting a fee as a DJ is one of the most awkward, under-discussed parts of the job. Ask for too little and you undervalue yourself. Ask for too much and you might lose the gig. There’s no industry-standard rate, and next to no transparency about what anyone’s actually earning. To help with this, we asked our Mixcloud community a simple question: how much do you charge? Here’s what they told us, and what it means for you.
Thailand's queer nightlife isn't going anywhere
Over in Thailand, things are getting better for queer communities. Marriage equality became law in 2025, granting full legal, financial, medical and adoption rights to same-sex couples — the first country in Southeast Asia to do so. Bangkok Pride now spans days, not hours, with a Pride Forum that covers more than 35 discussion topics on rights, welfare and legislation for LGBTQIA+ communities across Asia.

Bledi: Queer SWANA’s nightlife pioneers
For queer people around the world, the act of simply existing openly can carry stakes most people never have to consider. In the SWANA region – Southwest Asia and North Africa – including Arab, Persian, Turkish, Amazigh and Kurdish peoples, homosexuality remains punishable by imprisonment – and even capital punishment – in many countries. Legislation rooted in transphobia or homophobia often does so in the name of anti-colonialism, presenting queer and trans people as an imported Western concept.

Detroit House with Mr. Redley
There is no House music without soul. Before the machines, the Roland TR-808 and synthesisers, there was Gospel, Funk. The collective, joyful noise of Black America finding expression on the dancefloor. Chicago heard that lineage and transformed it into something new in the early 1980s. It stripped back the arrangements, letting the groove breathe, building the template. But in Detroit, the House template was taken and made into something distinct.
Bussy Temple: Queer Singapore’s safe space
When Bussy Temple held its first gathering in 2021 – in an abandoned tunnel with portable speakers and borrowed decks – it was an act of quiet defiance. Particularly in a city that had, until then, given its queer community little room to exist openly. At the time, male homosexuality remained technically illegal in Singapore, a law that wouldn’t be formally repealed until January 2023.
Berlin Techno with François X
When the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989, it left the yet to be unified German capital with something no other European metropolis possessed at the time: vast, empty, unregulated spaces and the collective will to fill them. The warehouses and power stations of the former East Germany became laboratories for a new kind of club culture. One that took Techno from its home, Detroit, and ran it through a European sensibility. One that was colder, more minimal and built for longer nights.
