Combined dynamical-deep learning ENSO forecasts - Nature Communications
Abstract Improving the prediction skill of El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is of critical importance for society. Over the past half-century, significant improvements have been made in ENSO prediction. Recent studies have shown that deep learning (DL) models can substantially improve the prediction skill of ENSO compared to individual dynamical models.

Molecular mechanism of the effect of ZnCl2 and MgCl2 solution on the conformation of Tau267-312 monomer
Molecular mechanism of the effect of ZnCl2 and MgCl2 solution on the conformation of Tau267-312 monomer Alzheimer’s disease is generally believed to be caused by abnormal aggregation of tau protein, however, it remains scarce that people’s understanding of the aggregation process of tau protein in solvent environment.
Stimulation of saliva affects the release of aroma in wine; a study of microbiota, biochemistry and participant origin
Abstract Saliva influences the release of aroma in the oral cavity. The composition of human saliva varies depending on stimulation; however, the compositional differences of saliva caused by stimulation and their influences on aroma release have not been fully evaluated. Humans display strong sensory preference for different aromas, with preference linked to country of origin, culture and personal history, yet how salivary composition is implicated in aroma release is not understood.
Stimulated saliva has a distinct composition that influences release of volatiles from wine
Abstract Aroma perception plays an important role in wine preference and evaluation and varies between groups of wine consumers. Saliva influences the release of aroma in the oral cavity. The composition of human saliva varies depending on stimulation; however, the compositional differences of stimulated and unstimulated saliva and their influences on aroma release have not been evaluated. In this study, we recruited healthy adults, of which 15 were Australian and 15 Chinese.
Rootstocks for Grapevines Now and into the Future: Selection of Rootstocks Based on Drought Tolerance, Soil Nutrient Availability, and Soil pH
Rootstocks are used in viticulture to manage plant pests and diseases, particularly phylloxera and root-knot nematodes, and to improve grape and wine production. A wide range of rootstocks are commercially available, making selecting the optimal rootstock a difficult decision. In particular, distinct rootstock genotypes may manifest varying degrees of tolerance or resistance to abiotic stress, necessitating meticulous consideration during the rootstock selection process.

Anisotropic Nature of Lightweight Wooden Metamaterials with Mechanical/Thermomechanical Multistability
Nanoengineered wood provides a renewable structural material with 3D micro and nanoarchitectures, exhibiting many beneficial characteristics such as being lightweight in nature, mechanically strong, eco-friendly, thermally insulation, and low carbon footprint. Most nanocellulose aerogels lack sufficient mechanical strength, while nanowood involves a trade-off between mechanical strength and insulation performance.
Poly(L‐lactide)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(D,L‐lactide) copolymers with enhanced toughness and strength by regulating crystallization and phase separation
Abstract Copolymerizing poly(lactide) with other materials to obtain better comprehensive performance is a effective way to expand its application range. In this work, the precursors of hydroxyl terminated (poly(L-lactide) [PLLA], poly(ε-caprolactone) [PCL], poly(D,L-lactide) [PDLLA]) were prepared, and PLLA-PCL-PDLLA copolymer were synthesized by chain extension.

Bio-Inspired nacre-like nanolignocellulose-poly (vinyl alcohol)-TiO 2
The hybrid layered structure model of resultant nacre-like composite was proposed as shown in Fig. 1. Firstly, the lignocellulose suspension mixed with 1?wt.% TiO and 4?wt.% PVA was added into SuperMassColloider at 1,500?rpm. Subsequently, lignocellulose/PVA/TiO suspension was fed into the disk grinder continuously for 6?hours through a loop consisting of a peristaltic pump and plastic tubing.
