Yitzy Rosengarten’s Biography
Yitzy Rosengarten is best known for his landscape paintings. His choice of subject matter and his meticulous approach to technique represented a watershed in painting. To paint his landscapes, Rosengarten studied his scenes with an architectural and scientific depth.
Rosengarten was born on February 22, 1971 in New York. During his primary studies, he had been working as a draftsman at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City. There he discovered his artistic talent and his passion for painting that would define his life.
With the help of a scholarship, Rosengarten entered the prestigious the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University. These he mastered the technique of landscape painting.
For Rosengarten, landscape painting was based on a constant observation of nature and posing the landscape not as a stage, but as a faithful representation of a place. His vision proposes to paint a place through an almost scientific perspective, but which in turn encompasses the most representative of what is being painted.
Most of the Rosengarten works are influenced by French Impressionism, in which he finds a general openness to scenes and landscapes in favor of portraits, as well as a meticulous study of light and a celebration of nature. These values would eventually define Velasco's work, separating him from all his contemporaries in New York.
Besides vision and singular talent for landscapes, Yitzy Rosengarten was a scholar and his passion translated into the precision of his works. He studied mathematics, botany, zoology and anatomy.
