Timing of reduction glossoplasty and clinical outcomes in children with Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome
Abstract Background: Macroglossia in pediatric patients, particularly those with Beckwith–Wiedemann syndrome (BWS), can cause airway compromise, feeding difficulties, and dentofacial abnormalities. However, the optimal timing of reduction glossoplasty and its impact on clinical outcomes remain uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of reduction glossoplasty in children with BWS, with particular emphasis on the association between age at surgery and postoperative outcomes.
Surgical outcomes of Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology diagnostic category class I, II, and III thyroid nodules
Abstract Objectives: According to the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology, surgery is recommended for Bethesda classes I–III thyroid nodules only in selected situations, such as large or growing tumors with compressive symptoms or clinical suspicion of malignancy. Clinical findings and cytopathologic evaluation are often considered together to reduce discrepancies between preoperative cytology and final pathology.

Systemic proteomic and organ aging signatures associated with plasma Aβ oligomerization in a Korean cohort: a cross-sectional study
Abstract Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by the accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aβ) in the brain, which begins decades before the appearance of clinical symptoms. Blood from AD patients, when spiked with synthetic Aβ, exhibited a higher Aβ oligomerization tendency (OAβT) than the non-AD subjects. OAβT reflected early pathological changes of AD and is considered as a promising blood-based biomarker. However, the mechanism underlying OAβT remained elusive.

Cholinesterase inhibitor use in amyloid PET-negative mild cognitive impairment and cognitive changes - Alzheimer's Research & Therapy
Abstract Cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) are prescribed for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and sometimes for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) without knowing underlying pathologies and its effect on cognition. We investigated the frequency of ChEI prescriptions in amyloid-negative MCI and their association with cognitive changes in the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) cohort. We included participants with amyloid positron emission tomography (PET)-negative MCI from the ADNI.
Cholinesterase inhibitor use in amyloid PET-negative mild cognitive impairment and cognitive changes - Alzheimer's Research & Therapy
We used data from the ADNI database (http://adni.loni.usc.edu). ADNI launched in 2003 as a public–private partnership, primarily aims to test whether neuroimaging, other biological markers, and clinical neuropsychological assessment can be combined to measure the progression of MCI and early AD. For this study, we aimed to include patients with MCI who had negative amyloid PET scans. The process of participant selection is depicted in Fig. 1.

Protective effect of empagliflozin against palmitate-induced lipotoxicity through AMPK in H9c2 cells
1 Introduction Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a severe event in diabetes and obese patients, caused by excessive lipid accumulation in cardiomyocytes (Nakamura and Sadoshima, 2020). The morbidity of cardiomyopathy has recently been rising rapidly, coinciding with the epidemic of diet-induced obesity (Birkenfeld et al., 2019). Elevated free fatty acids (FFAs) in diet-induced obesity and high glucose levels are independently associated with higher risks of cardiac disease (Carpentier, 2018).

Factors related to the location of pigment epithelial detachment in central serous chorioretinopathy - Scientific Reports
Abstract Pigment epithelial detachment (PED) is common in eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), and choroidal neovascularisation (CNV), which is almost always associated with PED, is found in a higher proportion than previously expected. Using en-face optical coherence tomography, this retrospective study aimed to investigate the PED location in relation to various geometric landmarks including the foveal centre (FC), greatest choroidal thickness (GCT) point and optic disc centre.
Impact of Sea Ice Melting on Summer Air-Sea CO2 Exchange in the East Siberian Sea
Introduction The carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere has increased from ∼280 ppm in the preindustrial era to the current ∼410 ppm due to human activities, such as the use of fossil fuels, cement production, and land-use changes (Le Quéré et al., 2018). During this period of increasing atmospheric CO2, more than a third of anthropogenic CO2 has been absorbed by the ocean through the air-sea gas exchange (Sabine et al., 2004; Gruber et al., 2009, 2019).

Mono-allyloxylated Cucurbit[7]uril Acts as an Unconventional Amphiphile to Form Light-responsive Vesicles
Serendipitously, we discovered that mono-allyloxylated cucurbit[7]uril (AO?CB[7]) acts as an unconventional amphiphile which self-assembles into light-responsible vesicles (AO?CB[7]VC) in water. Although the mono-allyloxy group, directly tethered on the periphery of CB[7], is much shorter (C4) than the hydrophobic tails of conventional amphiphiles, it played an important role in vesicle formation.
Multidecadal wind-driven shifts in northwest Pacific temperature, salinity, O2, and PO4
The North Pacific gyre boundaries are characterized by stark contrasts in physical and biogeochemical properties. Meridional movement of gyre boundaries, influenced by climate change, can therefore exert a large influence not only on marine ecosystems but also on climate. We examine the evidence for wind-driven southward shifts in subsurface temperature, salinity, PO , and O within the northwest Pacific from the 1950s to the 2000s.
