Mind vs Target
I have read it and also Teen Vs. Target since I have started coaching a HS team. Same principle just some different wording/syntax. It is worth the read but my mind still floats so I don't fight it and like you said, just shoot the target! I would recommend it to mostly younger shooters and athletes. There are things in both books that can help them through not just shooting, but whatever they are doing in life.
Shell Speed - Let's talk about it...
I've been shooting shells at 1250 FPS and I seem to break clays more consistently than shooting at 1200 FPS or slower. A few pals have experienced the same thing and others say it's all just mental... What are everyone's thoughts?
Left powder and Primers in loader in my garage for several months. Dump it (The powder and Primers)?
Wife had me move my reloading stuff over the holidays into the garage and I forgot I had a 1/4 or just under 1/2 a bottle of powder still in my mec from loading around the same time. Also found a handful of primers still in the tray onboard the Mec. I typically remove all components after every session of loading as standard practice, and I knew I had everything onboard at the time when I moved it to the garage so it's my mistake.
Shell Catcher for Benelli Super Black Eagle 3
I am going to be occasionally shooting trap with a group that requires a shell catcher. The only shotgun I have to use is a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3. I’ve searched the forums and see that this is not an ideal choice for trap, but it is what I have. My problem is locating a shell catcher. Does anyone know of a shell catcher for the Super Black Eagle 3 or a different shotgun that will work with the SBE3?
How did your New Year's shoot go?
Personally, I shot like crap, but I got to spend the day with my son and he kicked my butt...which made for a good day!
Is this chart accurate?
Read an interesting article in PULLUSA (clay target magazine). The gist of it was choosing ammunition. Anyway, this chart was shown, and I found the velocity drop at 30 yds very eye opening. Just wondering if it is accurate to you alls extensive research, and experience? #1 · Read an interesting article in PULLUSA (clay target magazine). The gist of it was choosing ammunition. Beyond the back fence…
ATA stops at the 27, but we often shoot games (Annie, Miss n Out, etc) all the way back to the 35 (or beyond) With improvements in ammo, increasingly higher scores, convergence around “perfect” - why hasn’t the game increased beyond the 27? The game is still difficult for us mortals, but in golf there are Pro tees, double black for skiers, maybe they use the 35 for shoot offs? Thoughts?
Mec 11/8 bar hole dia?
I load a light 15 grains of 700x for my trap loads, because of this, my stack height is a wee bit short.. causing a slight dip in the center of my shells.. so my ocd-ness decided I needed to add a few more shot to perfect the look.. so I set my bar up in my mill and took out a few thousands until I had them looking perfect..well… now… I’m dropping on average 10 pellets to many to be legal for ata… even with the 3% variance.. so.. back to the drawing board.. I guess I’ll bore out my 7/8 bar to 11/8..
Smoked targets
Ok so I am still new but I have yet to smoke even one target . I get what I feel are good breaks but have yet to see even one that got smoked. I understand a break is a break and that is really all I am concerned with now ,but seems like I should have smoked at least one even if just by blind luck . So here is my question …. I shoot nothing but 3/4 of #8 from a fixed full choke Remington 1100 , is that enough pellets to smoke a target ?
how to hit a dropping bird?
You break a falling bird, just like any other bird. You swing through the bird and pull the trigger when you get the desired lead. Which changes on the speed of the fall. The faster the bird drops, the more lead is required. I suggest you try shooting your games with a lower POI shotgun. Good Luck to Ya. break em all jeff
Greetings from Kansas!
Been lurking for awhile. I have 2 sons that shoot high school trap, and decided that I should shoot too. I'm not new to firearms, or plinking, but shooting trap at our local club has humbled me quite a bit! As mentioned, I have 2 children shooting, so that means I have bought 3 guns now (on my 3rd, Citori CX), the boys shoot "their" guns pretty/very good, but I'm currently going through the growing pains with my last purchase.
