Performances of CNSL-based Polyurethane Technology for E-mobility
Introduction: Cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) is a bio-renewable resource found in the honeycomb structure of the cashew nutshell (Figure 1). FIGURE 1 » Cashew fruit and nutshell. CNSL is a non-food chain product that would be disposed of otherwise. One of the most commercially useful chemicals from CNSL is Cardanol, a USDA certified bio-based product with 98% bio-content.

Renewable, Cashew Nutshell Liquid-Based Polyols: Their Benefits in CASE and Polyurethane Foams
Polyurethanes (PU) have been extensively used in a broad range of industrial applications, such as foams, textiles, composites, adhesives, sealants, and coatings. For example, the polyurethane demand worldwide in 2017 was about 16.9 million tons, and it is forecasted to grow close to 22.5 million tons by 20241.
Renewable Alternative: Cashew Nutshell Liquid-Based Isocyanate Blocking Agent
Cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) is a non-edible, bio-based material commonly used as a building block for various resins, hardeners, and modifiers in the adhesives, coatings, and composites industries. A high-purity cardanol, 3-pentadeca-dienyl-phenol, derived from the bio-oil CNSL has been employed to replace nonyl phenol (NP) in various applications, including isocyanate blocking.
