Dallas local magazine intern, just a whole lot of factchecking

How is social media changing news?

News is faster and brief but it's giving anyone and everyone a voice. Opinions now hold more weight.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Adobe premier, adobe audition, Google docs/Microsoft words, zoom mics, Cisco Jabber

Why did you become a journalist?

I wanted to put meaning to my words. I'm passionate about my beats so I use this as a bonding tactic between me and my audience

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was in the broadcast program. I made packages, PSA's, anchored, and created skits/segments for fun endings

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My first professional culture piece with Essence. I proved to myself that I can rely on sources from my extensive list of resources.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't beg for opportunities, make them.

Any day, any time

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A story about Beyonce being country despite being a Black woman

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

a concert, the gym, or in bed

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That its gossip news.
