Primary Use: Motocross Main Mods: Factory Connection revalve and spring rate change on both fork and shock Moment of Glory: Experiencing the bike’s twist-on torque! Forgettable Experience: Riding the bike with the stock Dunlop MX71 tires. Hours: 20 Aftermath: One oil change, one oil filter change, and 10 air filter changes The 2018 CRF150R Expert hasn’t received an update in a few years, but it’s completely new to my son Jack.
Jack rode the 2017 TC 85 in stock form first to get a good feel of what we had and where we wanted to go with it. The feel of the cockpit was well liked immediately. The bike felt narrow between the legs, its seat seemed long and fairly flat, and the controls were well positioned and with that great hydraulic clutch that’s easy to pull.
From the August 2016 issue of Dirt Rider Magazine My son Jack and I got to take home the RM85 from Dirt Rider’s 2016 85cc MX Shootout (June) for long-term testing. When I was a 13-year-old kid a magazine photo of Buddy Antunez on his R&D 80 was the highlight of my treasured wall of posters, and Jack really liked the RM85, so we were both happy. The long-term testing quickly morphed into a project bike build, one that would keep an eye on the old wallet.
