Introduction In bovine, during natural breeding or artificial insemination (AI), a massive number of sperm are introduced into the female reproductive tract (FRT) of the estrus animal to increase the probability of fertilization. In the course of the sperm’s journey to the ova, sperm interact with the immune system of FRT. Different Toll-like receptors (TLRs) have been found to be involved in the induction of inflammatory responses in the FRT (1–7).
