Since the beginning of March, our lives have changed. To many fashion students, an online education doesn’t exactly mean a better sleep schedule or an easier workload. On the contrary, fashion seniors face the challenge of finishing their graduate collection at home—with limited space and resources, missing the much-needed support from their peers and mentors.

For a while now, sustainable brands have been selling us a false reality. Popular names like Reformation, Everlane, and Patagonia have deeply ingrained environmental ethics into their mission statements, whereas fast-fashion retailers like Zara, H&M, and Uniqlo are shifting to a more eco-conscious image. Nowadays, sustainability feels like a marketing tool—a buzzword thrown around by influencers and brands to sell us more “sustainable” merchandise.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you’ve probably heard of TikTok. In 2019, the app was mostly popular amongst tweens and teens, but now the app is everywhere—especially because TikToks are reposted on Twitter and Instagram and even YouTube. Many of our beloved internet personalities and A-list celebrities are on the app, too, perfecting their dancesand showing us how they’ve been occupying their newfound free time.
