A new study published in BMJ Nutrition Prevention & Health found that drinking guava juice alongside iron supplements could reduce the risk of iron deficiency anemia. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis of 12 studies, revealing that teenage girls and pregnant women who drank guava juice experienced increases in hemoglobin levels. More research is needed, as the studies included in the meta-analysis did not establish a standard dose, type, or period of use for guava juice.

In May, California's workplace safety board voted to advance efforts to ban the fabrication and installation of engineered stone, which is commonly used to build kitchen countertops. Engineered stone has been linked to the lung disease silicosis, with 562 cases of associated silicosis and 31 deaths confirmed in California so far. Engineered stone like quartz releases respirable crystalline silica when broken down with power tools, a form of silica dust that can cause silicosis.
