Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has asked a federal judge to rule that the state's three-day waiting period to buy most guns is unconstitutional. The ruling would undo "cooling off" periods widely justified as a check on impulsive violence but ridiculed by many gun-rights activists as an infringement on personal freedom. Gun sales would still have to wait until any required background check was completed, but that could involve significantly less delay for some buyers.
