Have you ever used a typewriter?

Only once. My grandfather had one and my mom tried to show me how to use it. I was about 9 years old. I asked her where the backspace was.

How is social media changing news?

It is influencing the nature by which journalists measure ethical standards of news. Social media adds an element of pressure for speed.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means the truth is the thing that should always prevail, above all else.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Twitter censoring a certain hashtag from trending after a rivalry between Chrissy Tiegen and President Donald Trump. #PABOTUS

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Microsoft Word, Wordpress, InDesign.

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I believe a journalist makes the world go round. Without journalism, we are lost. We cannot be informed or make decisions without it.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

When it comes to ethics in journalism, trust your gut.

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee or passionfruit juice. Not really sure.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Reading a book.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That pop culture is entertainment-centered when it really covers a wide variety of issues including environmentalism and politics.
