…wait… what!? No rain in the weekend forecast!? How about it! After nearly a week or two of daily summer thunderstorms, there’s very little (if any at all) rain expected over the next five to seven days! Plus – Friday gives us a little relief from this weeks heat. Track 1 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones It seems as if we can’t get any relief from this stifling summer humidity… but Friday arrives with a breath of fresh air.

The muggies are here to stay!! …you know, the muggies, the summer muggies! That dreaded humidity that makes you sweat in only a few minutes when you’re out in the sizzlin’ summer sun. And with the muggies, comes those daily downpours! Unfortunately, over the next several days and through Father’s Day weekend, we won’t be able to escape those. There’s some fog out there this morning, patchy, but dense. It’ll likely hang around through sunrise, or mid/late morning before clearing.

The songs in the pub on this Thursday evening were not ones from the popular summer playlist. The lyrics that filled this pub were all originals — lyrics that come from the heart of Hampton Roads.

Spring time warmth is moving into the region this weekend — get out and enjoy it! Highs should be pushing 80 degrees! Track 1 Climbing Up The Walls by Radiohead Temperatures are climbing over the next few days — Friday we’ll rebound into the low and mid-70s. Expect some passing clouds throughout the region, but bright skies should remain. Maybe a stray shower here or there by the late afternoon or evening, otherwise expect warm and dry conditions.

(WAVY) — The spring season is home to some wacky weather, especially here in Hampton Roads, and it helps to think of the spring as less of a season and more of a transition. We are transitioning from winter being cold to summer being hot — winter’s specific tuning; cold, summer’s specific tuning; hot. In the atmosphere, our jet stream is the general flow of weather from west to east. In the winter, its specific tuning (or position) is farther south, giving us access to colder air to our north.

After Thursday evenings’ rainfall, a roller coaster ride of temperatures gets pushed into motion and our temperatures over the next five or six days simply go down, then up, then back down then head back up before crashing back down…. Fortunately, through the weekend things are looking dry! Track 1 Cool Kids by Echosmith Behind a cold front is of course colder air, so we’ll set up a cooler day Friday with high temperatures pinned in the 50s.

The stubborn clouds and gloomy conditions are hanging on through our Saturday morning… but we’re still hopeful that afternoon sunshine will bring in some warmth for the weekend. Well that warm spring like weather from earlier this week just got absolutely shut down by this cool, salty ocean air. Once the northeast breeze developed off the cold Chesapeake Bay & Atlantic Ocean, the marine layer developed and we’ve been stuck in the clouds since. Whew — what a ride that was. Thunderstorms blasting into the region this afternoon left their mark… with several reports of wind damage across Hampton Roads. Now, thunderstorms are moving out tonight as skies slowly clear out. A few thunderstorms will persist through 7 or 8 pm along the Outer Banks with the threat of damaging wind. From there, we see the cold front kick out all of the thunderstorm activity and set up a nice day tomorrow.

Hang on to your hats! The warm spring breeze picks up tonight as a round of strong thunderstorms blasts into the region Wednesday afternoon. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, so let’s be sure to stay weather aware! Off to the west, a big frontal system marches on and produces severe weather for the southern United States. The threat of strong thunderstorms then shifts towards the East Coast by Wednesday afternoon, which includes us here at Hampton Roads.

Yikes… just a few days ago we were pushing 80°! Today!? Wind chills in the teens and 20s through the morning and highs barely at 40°! Bundle up! Hope you haven’t put away those winter coats just yet because we’ll need them today. Highs will crawl out of the 20s this morning and struggle to get to 40°. The sun is strong this time of year, though, and with bright sunshine all day we’ll be in the upper 30s and low 40s around lunchtime.

Next week we can look forward to more seasonal weather, which by this point will feel like a nice warm up. Talk about a temperature turnover! After taking a play out of springs playbook yesterday, today will look and feel a lot more like a winter comeback! There’s more rain on the play call sheet as well. The beneficial rainfall from Friday night moves out early this morning and the cool breeze blows in brighter skies. Expect a cooler, refreshing weekend with highs returning to late January & early February standards — a big jump from the near record high of 73° we hit Friday afternoon! As the front drops south of the region today, the cool breeze will clear our skies out and drop our temperatures. Our high temperatures today, by the time you’re reading this, have already happened.

The weather roller coaster ride continues as temperatures are headed back up Friday, then back down on Saturday. This time around though, we’ll through some rain into the mix as a warm-front-cold-front combo heads our way.

Finally… we’re thawing out across Hampton Roads and this weekend we’ll be able to enjoy some of that winter sunshine. It’s been a slow thawing process, and will continue to be a slow process today, after a weak boundary dropped through the region last night. This will give us similar temperatures compared to yesterday – highs pinned around 40°. It’s a much different story come Sunday, when a southwest flow develops and the gentle breeze puts our temperatures up near 50°.

(WAVY) — Temperatures are finally on their way up into the weekend! This will really help our local roads and melt those slick spots. The added sunshine will help out big time as well! Track 1 Slow Dancin’ In A Burning Room by John Mayer Slowly, slowly but surely, these temperatures will climb over the next few days and we’ll thaw things out across town. Temperatures will start in the teens and 20s, but will quickly be above freezing by mid/late morning and push 40 degrees by the afternoon.

After a chilly and bright week across Hampton Roads, we’ll deal with more clouds, chances for rainfall and a bump up in our temperatures for the weekend. The two weak systems that slide through the region today and tomorrow will the unlock some of the coldest air we’ve seen in about two years…. buckle up and bundle up! The first system slides through the region today — we only expect a few passing showers between late morning and early afternoon.

Fortunately, morning lows in the 20s & 30s won’t compare to the teens we say Thursday morning.

Good morning! If you stayed up late last night — great chance you experienced snowfall across the region, however, waking up early this morning that’s a different story as the dreaded rain-snow has crept into the area. Through the early morning through, snowfall did accumulate across parts of town! Totals through 3am show an inch or so in most locations, with up to 3″ in locations along the Peninsulas & Eastern Shore.
