Theoretical and experimental study of a new effective hydrazide analogue as an inhibitor of the corrosion of carbon steel in hydrochloric acid
ABSTRACT Corrosion of carbon steel is a significant issue in industrial sectors, resulting in substantial economic and environmental losses. In this study, the performance of (E)-N'-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide (ISO(vani)), a novel hydrazine derivative, was evaluated as a corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel (C35E), which contains 0.370% carbon and 98.388% iron in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution, using electrochemical techniques and surface analysis.
Synthesis and characterization of two 8-quinolinol derivatives and their application as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in hydrochloric acid solution
Abstract Two derivatives of 8-quinolinols, namely 2-amino-N-((8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)methyl)acetamide (AHQA) and 2,2,2-trifluoro-N-((8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)methyl)acetamide (TFQA), were synthesized, characterized, and evaluated as corrosion inhibitors for the dissolution of carbon steel (CS) in 1 M HCl solution.
Corrosion inhibition and adsorption behaviour of two novel quinolin-8-ols on carbon steel surface in HCl: synthesis, electrochemical, surface characterisation, and quantum chemical approaches
ABSTRACT Two synthesised quinolin-8-ol derivatives were evaluated as corrosion inhibitors in 1M HCl medium for carbon steel (C/S). The derivatives are 1-((8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)methyl)urea (HQU) and 1-((8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)methyl)thiourea (HQT). A combination of quantum chemical approaches, scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX), UV-visible spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarisation (PDP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has been used in the present work.
