Take Ten-Thousand: Egocentric Data Collection for Humanoid Robots
The ChinaTalk team is going to CoRL (the Conference on Robot Learning) in Austin! Reply to this email if you’d like to hang out between November 9th and 12th. We’re also doing karaoke on the 11th — RSVP here if you’d like to join! A. Chen writes about people, technologies, and their relationships to power. Her submission, “Take Ten-Thousand: Egocentric Data Collection for Humanoid Robots,” won one of 7 Grand Prizes at the ChinaTalk Essay Contest.
Assessing the relationship between chronic aflatoxin exposure and hepatitis B virus immune protection in a population of children receiving nutritional support in Rwanda
Abstract Chronic aflatoxins exposure may impair immune function, but evidence in African children is limited. We assessed their association with hepatitis B surface antibody (Anti-HBs) levels in Rwandan children receiving nutritional support for malnutrition recovery or prevention. A total of 216 children aged 7–59 months were enrolled, including 70 malnutrition cases and 146 controls.

Brain Health Is Central to Good Perioperative Care in Older Adults
1 Introduction We are living in an era the United Nations has proclaimed “The Decade of Healthy Aging” [1]. The World Health Organization adopted a 2022–2031 intersectoral global action plan that envisages a “world in which brain health is valued, promoted, and protected across the life course; neurological disorders are avoided; and people affected by neurological disorders and their carers attain the highest possible level of health, with equal rights, opportunities, respect and autonomy” [2].

Allometric Comparison of Viral Dynamics in the Nasal Cavity-Nasopharyngeal Mucus Layer of Human and Rhesus Monkey by CFD-HCD Approach
Viral respiratory infections represent one of the major global health challenges, posing significant threats to both human and animal health and causing substantial morbidity, mortality, and economic losses [1]. These viruses can cause a spectrum of diseases ranging from mild to severe respiratory symptoms, with higher risks observed in vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals [2,3].
Effect of deformation temperature and degree on tensile properties of the extruded 2024Al/Al18B4O33w composite with extrusion - forging multistage hot deformation - Shi - 2023 - Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik - Wiley Online Library
The effect of extrusion – forging multistage hot deformation on tensile properties of the 2024Al/Al18B4O33w composites is investigated. The extruded 2024Al/Al18B4O33w composites are used as blanks.
Genuine quadripartite steering in three-photon spontaneous parametric down-conversion
Abstract We study the multipartite quantum steering generated by the nonlinear process of three-photon parametric down-conversion in an optical cavity. We find that the genuine quadripartite quantum steering can be obtained in this nonlinear process, and the injected signal can improve the stability of quadripartite quantum steering.
A Monte Carlo based approach to the resource assessment of Jamaica's geothermal energy potential
1. Introduction The continual pursuit of energy security across many Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states is a shared interest regardless of the many existing differences in the geopolitical and socio-economical landscapes. The dependence on fossil fuel-based products across many islands of the Caribbean still exists; however, there has been an enhanced transition towards carbon neutral forms of energy for electricity generation through renewable energy (RE) integration.
Infographic: The EBJIS definition of periprosthetic joint infection
Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) remains a major concern for surgeons and patients. It presents a large burden for healthcare systems, requiring expensive, invasive treatments, which are not always successful.1,2 Effective treatment starts with accurate diagnosis.
PBDE exposure and the association with testosterone, estrone and estradiol around the time of thelarche | Environmental Health Perspectives | Vol. 2020, No. 1
PBDE exposure and the association with testosterone, estrone and estradiol around the time of thelarche Abstract Background: Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are flame retardants, exposing humans primarily though diet, dust and inhalation. Higher levels of PBDEs have been associated with adverse health outcomes including lower thyroid hormone levels and later ages of pubertal transition.
Let-7 derived from endometrial extracellular vesicles is an important inducer of embryonic diapause in mice
Abstract Embryonic diapause is a maternally controlled phenomenon. The molecule controlling the onset of the phenomenon is unknown. We demonstrated that overexpression of microRNA let-7a or incubation with let-7g–enriched extracellular vesicles from endometrial epithelial cells prolonged the in vitro survival of mouse blastocysts, which developed into live pups after having been transferred to foster mothers.
Reply to ‘A phase II randomized controlled trial of nicotinamide for skin cancer chemoprevention in renal transplant recipients’: reply from the authors - Damian - 2016 - British Journal of Dermatology - Wiley Online Library
We thank Yélamos et al. for their interest in our nicotinamide chemoprevention studies.1 Some of their comments are pertinent, while others are based on a flawed interpretation of our data.
