This summer, the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA) transformed into a fantastical world of vibrant color. Its newest exhibition, “Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow,” is a testament to the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami’s talent for combining history and culture with whimsical escapism. Upon entering the CMA, visitors are met in the atrium with Murakami’s re-creation of the Yumedono, or Hall of Dreams.

Last week, the United States surpassed 700 confirmed measles cases. A majority of them have occurred in Texas. In addition to Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico have active outbreaks, and 19 other states have reported at least one case. About 97% of the cases have been in unvaccinated patients and in those whose vaccination status is unknown. Measles, also known as rubeola, is a highly contagious airborne disease caused by the measles virus.

Days are getting longer, trees are blooming and the sun is finally back—spring is here. The daily pollen count is steadily increasing, wreaking havoc on those of us with environmental allergies, and birds are back to squawking and tweeting away to their hearts’ content, no matter the time of day.
