Sunday Dinner: The Good List
A note from today’s editor, Missy: If you’re worried this is about to become a wedding account, you can relax. I’m not organized enough as a bride nor consistent enough as a content creator to ever make that happen. Earlier this week on Stories, I asked if anyone even wanted to see wedding dress content because I’ve tried on a lot of dresses. Also, and I say this with complete sincerity, I look really good in bridalwear. I’m just being honest. Case in point. And these weren't even in the top 10.
5 Great Buys
April flew by, but let’s re-live it together via my best purchases. Jacket I bought from my own Substack You’re crazy if you think I’m not out here shopping my own newsletter. A few weeks back I shared this Helmut Lang jacket as one of the ‘cool jackets to wear with dresses’. So far I’ve worn it 3 ways: Helmut Lang Satin Jacket in size 6 (further discounted here if you wear a 6) 1. closed with a brooch (this one’s cool) 2.
You Have the Right to Rebrand
Ski ready! Alp N Rock sweater and Sweaty Betty ski overalls I hope everyone had a cozy Christmas! Today’s letter comes to you from our family ski trip in Utah, where I’ve witnessed the “Cozy Blanket Wars” along Utah’s interstate firsthand (hilariously recapped here by Totally Recommend). For what it’s worth, my money’s on Minky. It’s a real Christmas buffet of things to do and try during this ‘in between’ week, so let’s get right into it.
What a celebrity stylist actually buys for the fall
There’s something deeply satisfying about discovering someone who actually knows what they’re talking about in the fashion space, not in that you-wouldn’t-understand-this-arcane-fashion-detail way, but in a generous, super helpful, let-me-show-you-exactly-how-this-works way. In other words, someone who has both the fashion IQ and EQ to deliver style advice and make you feel seen, heard, and inspired, all at once.
The High Low Masterclass
I rarely leave the house without a little ‘find’: $8 sunglasses, or Burts Bees lipstick, and quite often it’s something more exciting like my beloved Amazon jeans, this copy of the Row boots (better that the real ones!) or something I scored from the Real Real. Bassh suede blazer / Alex Mill sweater / H&M jeans / Dorsey lariat(chain is vintage) / Monica Vinader rings / Amazon sunglasses / Balenciaga bag & The Row loafers Your Stylist Says... is a reader-supported publication.
Tea notes: spring cravings
The recent bout of warm weather in Colorado has me finding little pockets of joy — in home-cooked backyard meals, long dog walks, and impromptu patio hangs. Below, I’m sharing some of my recent spring favorites… Little Liffner sprout tote I’ve been craving a new tote that I can stash my laptop in. Normally a neutrals gal, but this pop of chartreuse is everything… the chocolatey suede feels seasonless, too.
The 90s J.Crew Catalog eBay Search Term You're Sleeping On
Sometimes, someone’s outfit is the first indication of a friendship to follow. That’s how it worked with , who I was seated next to at a brand event in LA one sunny afternoon. She looked cool and effortless, sporting the Tom Ford aviators of my dreams and casually offering, “Try them on,” seconds after our introductions. If her name sounds familiar, it might be because she makes my favorite sun hat that I can’t stop talking about.
9 Things People Are Wearing on the Upper East Side
Want to get the 411 on where fashion is happening locally? Try Pinstripe—your personalized NYC shopping guide. “The Upper East Side is one of the best neighborhoods in Manhattan because it lacks trends.” This is what my friend, Lulu of explained to me when I asked about the fashion destination in question. I love that Lulu lives Uptown. And in the best way, her style reflects all the best bits of neighborhood. Long Live is a reader-supported publication.
You're a Salter House Girl on a Gap Budget.
I grew up in the Midwest with an obsession with fashion and the earnings of a babysitter charging $8-$12 per hour. That didn’t stop my from dragging the kids I was watching to neighborhood garage sales to haggle for a denim jacket or stopping at Goodwill on my way home from a day of nannying. I’m using the word fashion here intentionally because this isn’t a story about consumption. It’s a memory of a commitment to experimentation so strong that I took the time to bring my vision to life.
