County officials “disappointed” in Phish concertgoers’ behavior at Indiana shows
Phish just played three nights at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana over the weekend, and it seems like everything went according to plan: The jam band legends played for over three hours each night, and concertgoers brought various recreational substances to last them the entire set.

American Football’s eleventh-hour Music Hall of Williamsburg show just felt right
Music Hall of Williamsburg doesn’t bear quite as much historical significance as some other New York City rock clubs, and now, there’s a strong chance it never will. Late last year, news broke that the 650-capacity (and reliably good-sounding) venue near North Brooklyn’s waterfront would be losing its lease at the end of 2026.
Smirk: Speculative Fiction
Plenty of people turn to punk seeking an escape; Nick Vicario needed distance from the thing itself. As a player in West Coast bands like Crisis Man, Cower, and Public Eye, the Oregon-born musician has spent most of his life abiding by hardcore ethos both onstage and off, for better or for worse.
No, Fugazi did not collab with Vans
Since its formation in 1986, Fugazi has never sold official band merch. And so eyebrows were raised last week when skateboard shoe institution Vans announced a new collection with Fugazi, which also happens to be the name of a streetwear brand. The collaboration was announced on June 24 via an Instagram clip where Vans executive Steve Van Doren holds a slip-on shoe in one hand and what appears to be a trademark registration certificate in the other.

One thousand guests attended the max-security ceremony, and a handful of them performed at the subsequent reception, including Stevie Nicks, Fergie, Ciara, and Paul McCartney.

JPEGMAFIA – “¥ (Yen)”
Earl Sweatshirt beef be damned: There's a new JPEGMAFIA album coming this Friday. Peggy has been rolling out Experimental Rap with singles like the relatively restrained "babygirl" and the decidedly non-crunchy "War Over Land," but the latest single harks back to the type of twitchy, choppy, jumbled beats he was making a decade ago on Black Ben Carson. This time, though, he has a lot more money: "All of this money got me on a pedestal, way that I'm talkin', I might get a raise," he raps.

villagerrr, the folksy, slowcore-inspired project led by Columbus musician Mark Allen Scott, have a new album coming out next month called Carousel. They announced the record with the fuzzy lead single "Locket," and then followed that up with "Swimming," a twangy ballad embellished with a good dose of pedal steel. Today villagerrr have shared the album's title track; it's the most upbeat of the singles we've heard so far, contrasting more tranquil moments with blasts of gauzy electric guitars.

Hunter Biden Finally Breaks His Legendary Silence About Fakemink
Perhaps you saw fakemink — one of our favorite new artists of last year — at Coachella earlier this month. If not, perhaps you saw photos of Hunter Biden — son of former US President Joe Biden — hanging out with the London rapper backstage during the festival's second weekend. When those photos went viral, a lot of people thought they were AI-generated, considering the 56-year-old lobbyist/businessman is not the type of person you might expect to enjoy an off-kilter cloud rap set at Coachella.

FKA twigs Wants Indie Band Twigs To Stop Sending Her Cease-And-Desists
Around these parts, when we refer to an artist as "twigs," we're almost always referring to FKA twigs. On a slightly less recurring basis, we're referring to the retro-pop rock band the Lemon Twigs. We're almost never talking about the Twigs, the alt-pop duo of twin sisters Laura and Linda Good. Back in 2014, the Twigs (the band) filed a trademark claim against twigs (the singer), before dismissed the case "voluntarily" not long after.
Courtney Love Comes Around On Geese Despite Their “Gatekeeping Elder Millennial Troll Fans”
A few weeks ago — after fellow rock icons like Patti Smith, Billy Corgan, and Nick Cave proclaimed their fanship of Geese — Courtney Love bravely went on the record to say she wasn't quite yet sold on the Brooklyn band, who made our favorite album of last year. "I'm Geese-curious," Love said in an Instagram reel. "Do you feel like their team might be, like, elder millennial Brooklyn people? Like, very Girls-y? But who cares. You can't fake the way he's singing.

Model/Actriz Share Surprise New Swan Song s EP
Model/Actriz released their great sophomore album Pirouette just over a year ago, and today the glowering art-punks are keeping the party going with Swan Songs, a new surprise-released EP. "Glassman" is a mash of industrial-inspired beats about spending a weekend with a crush; "Thank You By Dido" is an eerie ballad and not a cover of "Thank You" by Dido; "Majesty" is a hypnotic, mellower reflection about accomplishing your dreams despite feeling alienated.

Dylan Brady shared quite a bit of solo music before his duo 100 gecs made it big and, subsequently, he became an in-demand studio collaborator for artists like Charli XCX and Skrillex. Earlier this year Brady returned with "Needle Guy," his first solo release since 2018. Last Friday, he shared an EP of the same name, which is four songs of head-pounding, maximalist dance beats.
SZA Covers Goo Goo Dolls’ Resurgent “Iris”
Not that "Iris" ever really went away, but the Goo Goo Dolls' 1998 hit has been enjoying a bit of a social media-fueled boost as of late. Last year stars like mgk and Sombr covered it; earlier this year it got a Steve Aoki remix. Now "Iris" is part of a viral TikTok trend, and not only has SZA participated, but she's done so by using her own cover of the song.
Watch Wet Leg Play The First SNL UK
The UK has their own Saturday Night Live now. Live from London, the first episode of SNL UK premiered on Sky TV last night, and it looks like it'll be formatted pretty much exactly like the original version. The inaugural musical guest was the very British Wet Leg, who performed "Mangetout" and "Catch These Fists" from last year's moisturizer. In a pretty smart crossover move, the episode was hosted by American SNL royalty Tina Fey.

Band To Watch: Cashier
Cashier don’t make the type of music you’d typically associate with Cajun Country. As vocalist/guitarist Kylie Gaspard tells me over Zoom, most of the bands you’ll find in her hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana nod to the region’s rich cultural history — plenty of Creole zydeco, tons of jazz, a good amount of metal that’s trickled over from New Orleans. “Honestly, I feel like it was kind of easy for us to get started here,” Gaspard explains.

Vocalist Greg Dulli produced and mixed the track with Christopher Thorn, and it was recorded in both New Orleans and Joshua Tree.
Cranberries Members Join Sombr For “Linger” In Dublin
Sombr had the unique honr of performing in Dublin just one day before St. Patrick's Day. To celebrate, the Gen Z pop star brought out Mike and Noel Hogan, members of the Gen Z -beloved Cranberries. With the Hogans on guitar and bass, Sombr — decked out in shamrock green — sang lead on their hit "Linger," a song that came out 12 years before he was born. Sombr can legally drink in Ireland, so he also unsuccessfully tried to split the G on a pint of Guinness onstage. See clips below.
