In 2010, Owen Williams walked into an anger management class and walked out with a band. The Cardiff experimental noise group Joanna Gruesome began in that therapy circle, where Williams met bassist Max Warren and guitarist George Nicholls. Alongside singer Lan McArdle and drummer Dave Sandford, Joanna Gruesome took the Wales DIY scene by storm for seven years before disbanding in 2017.
